Re: Looking for suggestions as to the best box for SDX12

Has anyone built the small 15" cubes and been happy with them in a HT setting? I think this is the direction i am heading. The amp has a 6db bass boost at 25hz, so it should work...right?:nerd:

Looking for suggestions as to the best box for SDX12

I am downsizing my HT from an 18" to a 12 ( maybe 2 12's ) TBD.

But based on a single 12 in what i would say more resembles a bedroom HY than a true HT, what is the best box? 90% HT, and of that...

Re: SDX12 Modeling

While looking at that chart it appears that i would be very happy wih the vented box, but i do not think i have enough power for the SDX12, and would do much better with a pair of SDX10's vs under...

I was thinking 1...

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

thanks...maximizing output is not my goal here...i just want a nice lowend sound. SQ is more important than loudness. I had to work today so i didn't do anything. I think i am going to tear...

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

may not be able to do that...opening in the floor is 24" wide, and only 14" deep because of the floor joist.

Hence the baffle i built...so i am going to have to go forth with firing it into the...

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

i would like to think it would be similar to a rear firing or down firing sub. IOW have little or no effect:innocent:

i could flip the thing to fire up...that would not be too hard, and take up...

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

here are some pics...thinking the chamber would stay and the driver would be in the same location. i would build a box around it, either ported or sealed.

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

i used to have a 12" driver in a 3 cuft sealed box powered by 150 watt plate amp that shook the room. My guess is that i can get enough output with this 18" inch driver and a 1200 watt amp?

Re: I have an 18" sub and i want to know if it will work in a sealed box for HT

On some audio it sounded as if it was making strange noises that sounded mechanical in nature, and not at even loud volumes.

So as to protect the driver, i thought sealed would be a better option.
