Re: Woofer thump changing volume or channel

I helped a friend a while back that was having a similar issue, I forget what actually fixed it but I did 2 things - I disabled his 'B' speakers that were enabled for some reason on the receiver and...

Re: What movie did you watch last night?

I watched Enders Game and Hunger Games Catching Fire over the weekend. Enders Game had an excellent mix with plenty of deep LFE but the story itself was just OK. Catching Fire was entertaining but I...

Re: Game of Thrones

Great first episode, they got us caught up with pretty much all of the main characters. I'm still disappointed there are only 10 episodes a season!

Re: What movie did you watch last night?

Last night I saw 300: Rise of an Empire in Atmos 3D. I quite enjoyed it; in fact I would say it's better than the original 300. It fills in the events that occurred before, during and after the...

Re: A Preview: THOR: THE DARK WORLD (2D Blu-ray; Disney/Buena Vista/Marvel)

Osage, very good review as always. I haven't watched this at home yet but caught it in the theaters and thought it was OK. They do have a lot of very convenient, or more accurately, lazy plot writing...

Re: Gravity - Blu-ray Review

I had the same thoughts as I walked into the Atmos theater for my first viewing soon after the release date and while I knew it had received some good reviews I had no idea how impressive it would...

Re: Which DVD Ripping Software Is The Best?

Yes, the free version of DVDFab supports this. Click on Converter at the top then under Output on the left click the blue file icon, choose audio and select FLAC.

Re: Blacklist (BEWARE of Spoilers)

I started watching The Blacklist a couple weeks ago and just finished season 1 last night. It was interesting reading through everyones posts now that I've seen it since I had pretty much the same...

Re: Gravity on Blu-ray/DVD Feb 25th

I still think it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. Sure there are a couple technical/scientific issues that bug me a bit but I think it's about as perfect a movie as you can get in that genre.

Re: Osage's Take On...CAPTAIN PHILLIPS (Blu-ray; Sony Home Entertainment/Columbia)

I watched it around -19MV and there was a good amount of LFE. I threw out the Onkyo setting as hopefully a solution to the lack of bass that you felt but who knows what's causing that.

That's...

Re: Osage's Take On...CAPTAIN PHILLIPS (Blu-ray; Sony Home Entertainment/Columbia)

Oops! I mixed up the two, I guess the solution isn't going to be that easy!

P.S. I just finished watching The Family, it's a good movie and I think you'd enjoy it.

Re: Osage's Take On...CAPTAIN PHILLIPS (Blu-ray; Sony Home Entertainment/Columbia)

Good review Osage. I thought the movie was excellent although it's not one that could be enjoyed with multiple viewings and as Osage said it makes a perfect rental.

I also noticed there was...

Re: Netflix not working with TV

Good info Mike. I wonder if JVC had a batch of bad HDMI port components, it kind of seems like a handshake issue. Horrorfan if you try a different HDMI input on the TV does anything change?

Re: ALL HAIL the King: new Marvel Short film on Thor the Dark World

Interesting. I think I would be in favor of that. IM3 was such a joke all around they should try to rethink not only that characters direction but the whole IM franchise.

Re: PS4 Best Audio Option

I have read that people had luck with setting the audio to Linear PCM in the main menu and then Bitstream in the BD player audio menu. Some have had lip sync issues with other settings when watching...

Re: Here's the complete list of 86th Annual Academy Award nominations

My vote would be for Gravity but that would be very biased since I haven't seen any of the others yet!

It would be neat to have a contest where HTS members would vote on who they think will win...

Re: PS4 Best Audio Option

Good question, I wish I knew why they have two different types of Bitstream. Hopefully someone that actually has a PS4 will chime in :)

Re: PS4 Best Audio Option

I don't have a PS4 but after some reading this is what I've found:

Either option will work and you likely won't be able to tell a difference. It seems a majority of people prefer the straight...

Re: Samsung and Paramount Pictures Collaborate to Bring Premier Ultra High-Definition (UHD) Content to Consumers

Well it looks like they will deliver it via a hard drive (http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2014/01/06/samsung-teams-up-with-amazon-netflix-and-others-for-streaming-4k-content/).

Re: Sony 5 disc CD player hook up

You should only need the optical cable connected to listen to an audio CD.

If you connect the CD changer to the top optical input marked TV and change the receiver source to TV it should work. You...
