Re: 4 Fi IB318

Yeah, I'm happy to be back! Too bad the Yamaha receiver is very limited when it comes to bass management and flexibility, but it'll have to do for a while. I have a MiniDSP for the sub, and I have a...

Re: 4 Fi IB318

Well, time for a small update here.

About a year ago we were hit pretty hard in my household by the oil crisis here in Norway. Had to sell the drivers and my mains, all amps and basically started...

Re: Yamaha RX-V767 no rear surround sound

Yes, apparently there's an "option" button on the remote tht brings up a whole new manu that's inaccessible from the setup menu. There was an option for "extended surround" there, separate from all...

Re: Yamaha RX-V767 no rear surround sound

Well, that's my issue. I have a pair on the surround, and a pair on the rear surrounds, and I want to have the processor use DPLIIx when I use a 5.1 source, but it's not having it. When I play a 2.0...

Yamaha RX-V767 no rear surround sound

I have recently got one of these receivers, and this is my first time tryng to set it up.

I have rear surrounds, they are working with test tones, and I have set the levels correctly. I am trying...

Re: Tangen AVDesign inConcert Miles

Not sure, I'll check on my laptop when i get home. I don't have these any more, as the current oil crisis hit us pretty hard I was forced to sell them.

Re: Tangen AVDesign inConcert Miles

Sorry for the late reply.

I was using an active setup on these. Ended up with a pretty steep 1100Hz [email protected]/oct crossover and level matching. I had the horn at ear height and there wasn't any...

Re: 4 Fi IB318

4 ohm drivers in series, two per channel for an 8 ohm load. I might not use all the potential in the drivers, but then, I'd like to keep my house a few years too. It's certainly an easier load on the...

Re: The best Audyssey test... single mic test

Yep, that's pretty much exactly what Chris from Audyssey recommended. As long as the rear-most measurements don't get too close to a wall.

Re: The best Audyssey test... single mic test

Chris from Audyssey usually recommended keeping hte measurements at ear height due to dispersion patterns.

Re: The best Audyssey test... single mic test

I've never got great results with Audyssey with a wide spread. Also, as Audyssey have noted on many occations, the manuals are written by the manufacturer, even for the Audyssey sections. That's why...

Re: The best Audyssey test... single mic test

Audyssey themselves suggest a 1' - 2' max spacing for a focused sweetspot. I'm always clustering as many measurements as i can within a 1'6" radius "disc" at ear height, with the tightest grouping...

Re: Subsonic subs for real?

Some stereo music recordings can get alot better with a well integrated subwoofer. The sense of space in a large recording venue can often only be reproduced by a really good sub. When I installed my...

Re: Subsonic subs for real?

My IB sub can also hit 10Hz with gusto. My foundations hate it every time, though.

Do I need it? Not really. Is it cool that it CAN? Sure! :hsd:

Re: Full front wall absorbtion?

Extending the manifold will make it a transmission line or a horn, though.... I'll experiment a little with it.

Re: Full front wall absorbtion?

I currently have my IB manifold outlet behind the center speaker. I have about 4' from the screen wall to the wall behind the screen. I have large front speakers. If I were to fill the void behind...

Re: Full front wall absorbtion?

I'm planning on a 400mm thick absorber. With a heavy membrane I can get a very good absorption factor right where I need it most, at 24-26Hz.

Re: Full front wall absorbtion?

My main problem at the moment is a huge 24Hz peak and a wide valley from 40-70. The 24Hz is room length and would hopefully benefit from some serious absorption on the rear wall. 24hz is hard to...

Re: Acoustics tips and help, please

Apparently I can no longer edit the OP, so I'm going to have this thread closed and start a new one. It is a new room in a new house compared to the OP anyway, so it's a warranted change. :-)

Re: 4 Fi IB318

I will when I have them available and they are "presentable". :-)

I have very capable mains, so "gut impact" is not an issue in my particular case. I think the IB does this better than the "box"...

Re: 4 Fi IB318

Thank you. I'll try the same setup. Should give me quite a bit more power from the amp. The other option is two series per channel for a 8 ohm stereo load

Re: 4 Fi IB318

Just read your thread, Blitzer. I'm a little relieved since I saw the same dropoff in the low end as you did, even if it SOUNDED like it was outputting significant energy way below 15Hz. I've boosted...

Re: Full front wall absorbtion?

Taking this up again now that my IB subwoofer is finished. I liek my sound as dry as possible, especially in the bass, and I think I'll try to get the rear wall as "invisible" as possible.

I'm...

Re: 4 Fi IB318

I have, and it's easy to reach excursion limits even with one amp. Which is why I want two, to be honest. I feel amps driven well within their limits keep better hold on the drivers and will limit...
