Re: JVC Announces Its First True 4K Projector with Laser Light Source (DLA-Z1)

A very nice projector. Hopefully in the next year or two (or three), these will trickle down to the lower cost projectors (sub $5K). It's nice to see more competition in the 'true' 4K projector...

Re: Heroes Reborn: Event Series - Blu-ray Review

Thanks for the review. It was just a mediocre show for me. I watched it because it was Heroes and I wanted to finish the story. Not because I was really into it. I'm definitely going to buy this...

Re: Sicario - Blu-ray Review

I watched (rental) this last week. It's easily one of my favorite movies that was released in 2015. I really enjoyed the movie, the visuals, the audio. Everything was just top notch. My wife didn't...

Re: Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - Blu-ray Review

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a must buy to round out the other Jack Ryan movies I have. I love having that "Wow. That looks GOOD." feeling when watching movies. :)

Re: 135" screen owners?

I have a 106", and when I say it's small, people are surprised. I'm looking to go 135" myself, but will probably go with a 120". Just due to the size of the room, sitting distance (14') and speaker...

Re: Your HT in 2014

New carpet, rear seating, larger screen. I want to get the screen prepped for a new projector in a couple years (4K when prices drop and there is a media format to take advantage of it).

Other...

Re: $3,000 Speaker Evaluation Event - Nominated Speakers Voting Poll

I voted. Of course, my requirements weren't too scientific. Only based on what I'd like to see reviewed and what I'd probably buy if I had the cash (6 more years to go until the kids move out and I...

Re: The Panasonic PT-AE4000U Projector Giveaway Qualification Thread

I'm qualified. I'd love to win this projector as an upgrade for my aging projector. I'd put it to good use (and probably upgrade my screen to a larger size at the same time) and watch even more...

Re: Hsu Research

When doing research for my DIY sub, there were many references to a Hsu type design. A lot of boxes were modeled after his designs.

I really need to find some time to search out some Hsu speakers...

Re: Power Sound Audio Triax Giveaway Qualification Thread

Wow. Talk about shaking the house. :) Impressive! I know if I crank mine up, things fall of the shelves in the other room. :D

Re: Iron Man 3 - Blu-ray Review

Loved the visuals and the audio blew me away. Great use of the surrounds. The movie was lacking a bit, but still a decent movie. It's a must buy just for the demo aspect. Show it to showcase the...

Re: Defiance: Season 1 - Blu-ray Reveiw

I really enjoyed the show, and will be picking up the Blu-ray release when it goes on sale. I'm looking forward to the next season. Downside for me was that the plot moved slowly. The main story arc...

DIY vs. Brand name

I am debating on DIY vs. brand name. It's hard to find a direct comparison with any models or much like that. I've tried Googling (well, Bing, as I'm a MS guy!) any comparisons, but came up short.

Re: Onkyo TX-NR626 7.2-Ch Network A/V Receiver Review Discussion Thread

Great review. Great timing, too, as I am in the market for a new receiver to replace my trusty but aging Sony 7.1 receiver. Great price on the refurb, too, and never had a problem with refurbs.

Re: After Earth - Blu-ray Review

Jayden Smith and his lack of acting skills is what turned me off the movie in theaters. I'll wait for it to hit discount bins before I pick it up.

Although, as far as the director - I'm one of...

Re: Cleaning inside projector

I can do it with other electronics. I've replaced parts in gaming machines, resoldered caps on video cards & an LCD TV, things like that. But, the machine was broken already. If I messed up, it was...

Cool. Thanks for the link. That sounds pretty intimidating. Last thing I want to do is make it worse... I might think on that for a while before attempting it. But, it does sound exactly like the...

Re: Sony Launches Three New Projectors

$15K for a 4K projector. Not bad considering how new the technology is. I'm hoping in 2-3 years it will be closer to $3-5K for home use.

Still very neat stuff. I wish they had some on display...

Cleaning inside projector

Has anyone taken their projector apart and cleaned the internal lenses? I have some splotches on my image, and I can look into the lens and see some dust on the internal lenses. I'd like to take it...

Re: Wine Barrel Sub Build

Nice! I work at a winery (doing IT work), and have access to barrels. Definitely would fit into a room that I'm working on... Just have to convince myself I need a sub out there (yes, I do!).

Re: World War Z - Blu-ray Review

I am not a zombie fan (way too overdone lately) or a Brad Pitt fan (Cool World was good), but I really enjoyed this movie. Very surprised with the audio, as well. It really blew me away, from the...

Re: $2,500 Speaker Evaluation Event - Nominated Speakers Voting Poll

I voted for three, and oddly enough, they were the 3 highest voted from the poll. So, at least I have some sense (a little, admittedly!).
