Separates - balanced pre/pros for <$3k?

I'm still hanging on with my trusty B&K Reference 50 (v1). After tuning the notch filter and parametric EQ with REW, this thing really sings. That's why I've just not been that motivated to upgrade...

Re: Is dlp a bettter option than LCD... for the $$$

So you work in the industry? Not sure how carefully you follow this issue, but a few people on another forum who had this problem earlier this year said this part was on nationwide backorder then. ...

Re: Is dlp a bettter option than LCD... for the $$$

I really hope you are correct about this. But there seem to be a large number of failures cropping up on other RPTV forums. So I am skeptical, especially since I have fallen victim to the issue......

Re: Is dlp a bettter option than LCD... for the $$$

Yeah, me too. I'm extremely irritated about the situation. My last TV was a Toshiba CRT set that kept needing a $300 convergence IC replacement every couple of years. So I got burned on that set,...

Re: Lexicon MC-12 and high end processors, you pay for the name.

sub-crazy I agree with your take on how good high-end pieces create a seamless soundfield where your speakers seem to disappear. That's a great description of how it works when you get it right.

Re: Is dlp a bettter option than LCD... for the $$$

Yeah the extended warranty should get you taken care of if you experience this issue. I didn't have one so just spent my evening replacing the red LED module myself. My cost was about two hours...

Re: REW 4 and OS X Snow Leopard

I'll be upgrading my MBP to Snow Leopard tomorrow. I hope that my REW setup continues to work as well as it has been. I expect it will be fine, but I'll post something to let everybody know for...

Re: My Behrenger UB802 mixer won't power on

You guys' electronics chops are waaayy out of my league :R

Maybe I'll take the dead transformer apart again and post some images for others to see in case someone else runs into this issue in the...

Re: external amp needed?

I missed that you were trying to drive mini-monitors. Those speakers are great but they don't require a big amp to drive them well (which is one of their nice qualities IMO). I used to have a pair...

Re: No Trigger Out? No Switched A/C out? No Problem!!

Several of the Monster Power line filters + surge protectors also offer this feature. Mine has a 12v trigger out that switches on when there is current passing into a special outlet that goes from a...

Re: external amp needed?

So how does it sound? I know that when I added an outboard amp to my setup for the first time I was blown away by the difference. I always thought a watt was a watt was a watt until that day...

Re: Lexicon MC-12 and high end processors, you pay for the name.

I don't understand the logic of the OP at all. How do you look at a photo of two PCBs and make any judgement as to how similarly they perform? How many layers are in the PCB? What is the quality...

Regarding the discussion about the life of the LED light sources in these LED-DLP sets....

I have had a Samsung HL-T6187s for 25 months and the red LED module just burned out on my set. Doing a...

Re: My Behrenger UB802 mixer won't power on

Yeah that one in the picture is slightly different from mine. Same model number but the Behringer engineer that I spoke with on the phone mentioned that the one I have is an older design and that...

Re: REW on a Mac LapTop

I am successfully using REW on a MBP 17". Works great with the internal audio - no USB soundcard is required. For measurements, I use a ECM8000 mic hooked to a UB802 mixer that's wired back to the...

Re: Sound cards: usb vs. pci vs. ???

You'll get better value going PCI, simply because external cards must have a separate enclosure. The advantage is that you can use an external card on a laptop, and the in/out jacks are more...

Re: My Behrenger UB802 mixer won't power on

Yeah I was just looking at hosfeld as per your advice. The original PS says this:

output 2 * 17 VAC / 250mA

There is an 18 VAC adapter there (Basler BE114720CAA) that might work if I knew the...

Re: My Behrenger UB802 mixer won't power on

Nice ideas. I just tried this and the cable looked OK. So I decided to go ahead and take the transformer out of its plastic box and measure directly there. Bad news, there is no voltage across any...

Re: My Behrenger UB802 mixer won't power on

This mixer uses the MXUL3 power supply that converts 110V AC power to 17.5V AC at 250mA. That's not a typo - the UB802 runs off 17V AC power. Quite a strange setup.

Interesting idea about...

Re: My Behrenger UB802 mixer won't power on

Thanks. It is the power supply that's gone bad. Pity. I am waiting to see if Behringer will do anything for me (I really think they should - this unit has less than 20 hours on it!) Otherwise, I...

Re: Standing waves at 40, 400Hz

I have three spare 2" OC703 panels in my garage. So you recommend the 2" panel with 1" gap configuration that you mentioned above? I've made DIY panels before for my front wall (that's why I have...
