Re: minidsp nanoavr hd or DL

Hi Ken

The miniDSP Dirac software runs on a Mac now (they issued an update a few (?) months ago).

The second definitely won't work. For "normal" you would have to find out what exactly...

Re: MiniDSP 10x10 HD vs. nanoAVR-HD

As noted the nanoAVR HD does have the advantage of being half the price... it also has a fairly sophisticated bass management. But, HDMI only and your sources need to be able to produce linear PCM....

Re: How to make a 90-degree calibration file

You would need the A-B operation to work on the magnitude only (no phase) in dB. I wasn't able to make REW do that.. :( (I could have missed something?)

Thanks JohnM and AudiocRaver, I'll try...

How to make a 90-degree calibration file

Hi folks, if you'd be interested in trying a 90 degree calibration file for your mic and don't have one, here's a procedure to make one:

Re: Getting around the limitations of JavaSound on OS X

Oh. No, that's not where :) You should set SoundFlower to 48000 Hz there. Then you need to run the SoundFlowerBed app, and you can get this (by EmagSamurai, linked in first post)

Re: Getting around the limitations of JavaSound on OS X

Hi, sorry, but I can't see what you're seeing. Screenshots might help. Basically, set REW to output to Soundflower 64ch and set Soundflower 64ch to direct audio to a specific channel of the HDMI...

Re: REW & MiniDSP. Have I got this right?

Um, sorry, I should clarify the comment about moving subs/speakers :) I'd want to know if moving the speakers will even out the 120-240 region, and if moving the sub can be used to reduce the 25-40...

Re: REW & MiniDSP. Have I got this right?

Hi, mic orientation only makes a significant difference at high frequencies.

I'm not sure why I can't see your graph now, but I'd be inclined to measure and EQ the speakers and subs independently....

Re: Getting around the limitations of JavaSound on OS X

As far as I know, you still need to use Soundflowerbed to direct REW output to specific HDMI channels.

I just tested it on Mavericks and it seems to work fine.

Great work John on the update!

Re: Older miniDSP Models vs. nanoAVR HD

Hi there, for EQ on a 5.1 system, and excluding Dirac Live, the options mostly (*) boil down to the 10x10 Hd (or the 8x8 kit board) or the nanoAVR HD. The 10x10 is analog in/out and goes between a...

Re: MiniDSP HOWTO

There's an EQ bank (6 PEQs) on the input side of the crossover, and an EQ bank on the output side of the crossover (6 PEQs per channel). Any EQ you put in on the input side will apply to all output...

Re: MiniDSP HOWTO

If you have one subwoofer feed , that you want to feed to four amp channels with different delays, you need the four-way crossover plugin. (Just turn off the crossover filters).

Re: miniDSP plugin 2Way issue

Apparently this can happen if the computer on which the plugin is running is not connected to the network the first time it runs. I think it's to do with Adobe Air wanting to check for updates. Would...

Regardless, a. the thread seems to have moved on and b. I think it would be interesting to explore some fundamentals......

Re: Mini-Dsp - Let's break it down

Actually. I think *I* suggested that, not miniDSP. However, it is an example (a fairly straightforward one, if you don't mind my saying) of how to deal with gain structure issues - increase or...

Wayne, I didn't see you and AJ as being that much in disagreement. It's common practice to perform measurements for loudspeaker design at 1m and AJ would I have no doubt be the first to acknowledge...

Re: EQ Above 200-300hz

Hi, you must be looking at the narrow notch, Wayne is referring to the overall broad peak ("bandwidth of ~1-octave or a bit less").

Re: Averaging energy of a multipoint measurement - possible?

Oh I see. Can't give you a definitive answer but from a quick test (import one measurement twice, offset one by 40 dB, take average) it appears to be linear.

I'm struggling to understand why you...

Re: umik-1 position for measurement

Hi there, I am not 100% certain but I think that if you go to the All SPL tab and click on the Average button, it will produce the average of the magnitude responses of the selected measurements....

Re: UMIK-1 Mic Measurement Help

A foot might be a bit extreme esp when dealing with the mid-high network, usually a meter, give or take. If you can get it all outside that may help. But it sounds like you're on the right track :)

Re: UMIK-1 Mic Measurement Help

If you have the stock passive network in place, then the effect on the driver will be the active and passive crossover in series. Perhaps the...
