Re: IB questions drivers, amps etc..

oh yeah.. it says I don't have permission. Guessing I have to sign up. Your build is cool, will check back to see how it is going. I am about 6 months out from starting my IB setup. Purchased the...

Re: IB questions drivers, amps etc..

Any update to this build? the link does not work. I was wondering if having the two subs not be in a plenum (line array style) was causing any vibration issues? Very curious as to how this is going!

Re: Can I I.B. ?

It's all about the speaker you choose, you will need a minimum of 4 times the VAS rating of the speaker (for volume). But optimally 10. So find out which IB speaker you are interested in and use...

Re: ISO guidance for an accurate musical sub

I don't know the specifics of your room, but if you can go Infinite baffle, take a look into that. your main cost is the speaker itself since the area behind the room (should it exist of course)...

Re: Rythmik 15 sealed sub build - two of them

The REW results are in!

The following results were collected using a new Galaxy CM-140. I followed all the recommendations from this forum as to how to calibrate the sound card, graph mins and...

Re: REW Novice graph

My take on the Rhythmik is that it is best suited for someone who places value on accuracy as much as volume (and price, of course!! This does weigh in here!!). Rhythmik may not be as loud as other...

Re: REW Novice graph

Guilty as charged, I never posted any REW charts. I accidentally deleted the files and moving my computer to the basement (again) and setting it all up is a bit unweildly. I will try to make it a...

Re: REW Novice graph

You can go to this Shack link and scroll to the bottom, there is a picture of my home theater there. Don't be fooled, it is a completly unfinished basement, I just went to a material store and spent...

Re: REW Novice graph

Wow, your REW graph look just like mine did a year ago! I had home made 12 inch ported subs tuned to 48 hertz, anything below 45 just rolled off into never never land. I moved them everywhere and...

Re: My first Diy subwoofer need some advice

Why do the ports have to be straight? Is that a rule? Maybe they could have an elbow or two so as to fit into a smaller box?

Re: Rythmik 15 sealed sub build - two of them

You know, I have not tried to reach a max spl, do I do that with white noise or just a movie track? I am not sure which way gives me the proper result. I do know that I can overpower my listening...

Re: WOTW's or other bass fest movies at REF? How does your SW system do?

This is where transducer technology comes in. You can purchase the best subs the market has to offer, 3 eighteen inch ported, or multiple 15's and start to get the lower end, but think about it. Have...

Re: Rythmik 15 sealed sub build - two of them

Thats hilarious. That is what happened to me. I pretty much knew that I would need better mains once I got true subs. I emailed Brian about the option of crossing over at 100 hz (to help with my weak...

Re: Rythmik 15 sealed sub build - two of them

Good idea on the blanket.

However, now I am going to have to run the calcs on the box size. The plans from Rythmik said 3 cubic feet, how could they be a whole cube off? Geez, now I gotta get a...

Re: Build my own?

Here is a sonotube build. You can judge for your self if these are to large. I would think that they don't need to be taller than a basketball player though! ...

Re: Build my own?

Yes! Sonotube eliminates alot of the bracing issues. I think a sonotube with a servo sub set up would be awesome. I did not go that way due the the WAF. Had to keep them as small and dark as possible.

Re: WOTW's or other bass fest movies at REF? How does your SW system do?

I agree, if regular dvd did not have the lower frequencies, then why do I feel like I am in the ship when it is landing? My Crowson transducers move (I did not say shake) the couch in harmony with...

Re: Build my own?

I just finished building two Rythmik 15 inch subwoofers. They compete with subs in the 1500-3000 range in sound quality. I know because I go to these high end listening rooms where they sell that...

Re: Rythmik 15 sealed sub build - two of them

Exactly, they can easily over power the subs, hard to believe, but they really can. I cross them over around 40 and turn them up only just enough to accentuate the subs. The effect is crazy and...

Re: Rythmik 15 sealed sub build - two of them

Thanks jmuir, now that they have been completed for about 2 weeks, I agree. I ran REW against them and the only place in the room that sounds best for REW is on their sides aiming at the couch in a...

Re: E.D. 19Ov.2 Sonotube

Go low dude, get Transducers. Nothing competes with tactile. Transducers will run the 1-20 hz range, your sub can take it from there on up to 80 hz. It becomes rather unreal when listening to such a...

Re: WOTW's or other bass fest movies at REF? How does your SW system do?

I just watched Matrix Reloaded for the first time ever, and on my home theater. In the first 10 minutes the 'ship' lands. While it is being piloted and when it lands, the frequencies are all below 20...
