My System
proper ep4000 gain setup

Good day all ,

I was playing with my new TX-NR818 and after talking to a Behringer tech specialist they had me setup the dip switch as this

RIGHT - clip limiter ON
RIGHT - low cut filter 30 Hz
LEFT - low cut filter ON
RIGHT - parallel operation
RIGHT - parallel operation
RIGHT - bridge mode ON
RIGHT - bridge mode ON
LEFT - low cut filter ON
RIGHT - low cut filter 30 Hz
RIGHT - clip limiter ON

My sub is a DIY TC Sound 15 inches in a 3.2 L box

Gain on ep4000 is set to max i have not calibrated the Onkyo yet so all internal gain are at 0db

while trying the new setup with Dark side of the moon CD, the sub was playing very loudly and more loudly than the Klipsch RB51

at the end of the forst song Breathe the bass guitar comes very low and i saw the ep4000 clip

I turned down the gain on the ep4000 to half but my question is

At the beginning of the audyssey auto setup you are ask to adjust the sub level so do i use the gain on the ep4000 to adjust the signal to 75 db or do i leave it at max settings and see what audyssey will comeup with which i assume will be -15db judging by the loudness of the sub with ep4000 gain at max setting

Thank you

Alain
