  1. Tidal music streaming service

    Two Channel Audio
I've used TIDAL for 3 months now and love it! I do wish the interface were a bit easier to navigate but the sound quality is first rate and the selection is pretty good and getting better.
  2. MiniDSP Dirac Live & REW

    REW Forum
Thank you Sir! That is a great answer and makes this whole process much easier. Paul
  3. MiniDSP Dirac Live & REW

    REW Forum
This is probably a silly question, but I am really new to all this DSP stuff and the learning curve is steep. I just bought a miniDSP Dirac Live DDRC-22D system. Thinking about what the DDRC-22D does makes me wonder why I need to go through the REW analysis process. If I set the crossover...
  4. Quick overview tutorial for using REW

    REW Forum
I searched but didn't find anything describing a overview tutorial on using REW to test the response of individual drivers in a multiway system. I would love to shorten my learning curve with this well regarded software. Just an FYI, I am using a Mac Book, UMIK-1, miniDSP 4x10Hd. Does anyone...
  5. Champster's New Listening Room

    Home Theater Design and Construction
Ah I see your thoughts. Yes the symmetry behind and besides both speakers will be exactly the same. The opening is to the right rear (behind) the listening position. I spent an hour on the phone today with the architect making sure the flooring is as strong and sound proof as possible, 50A...
  6. Champster's New Listening Room

    Home Theater Design and Construction
The term loft might be kind of misleading here. The open are you're describing is only the area at the top of the stairs into the rest of the upstairs area. Of the 19' length of the room, it is about 10' of open area.
  7. Champster's New Listening Room

    Home Theater Design and Construction
I have finally pulled the trigger and written my first check to the architect to build a loft in our home that will serve as a dedicated 2 channel listening room and eventual HT. The loft will have an entry to the right of the top of the stairs with the speakers being at the end opposite the...
  8. JBL 2206 power handling question in 4 way

    DIY Audio
Can someone please plug the JBL 2206 driver into their software and tell me what the max spl from this driver is in a fully active 4 way system from 80-1khz. Where does it run out of steam? I want the 2206 to cross over to a 2235 or 2245 on the low end and a TAD 4001 or JBL 2446 on the upper end...
  9. Christmas Build

IB - Infinite Baffle Subwoofer Build Projects
Wow this is quite a project. You have stones to remove part of the homes foundation to fit this!!!! But props to you. It looks like, with a little work on the response, you're going to have a great Sub!!! What are you planning to do to tame the 30 hz peak?
  10. Ported vs Sealed Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
I totally agree with you. Having built cabinets in the past that are nearly non resonant, it makes a difference. With this project, I am going to use Solo tubing used to pour concrete in and make pilings. These are very strong and round. If necessary, I will wrap them with lead sheet and cover...
  11. Ported vs Sealed Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Mike - I am using the Linkwitz THOR. It is a 12" Peerless XLS driver which is in about a 1.5 cf cabinet. This will use the THOR active xover and the JBL will use a, Keiga, plate amp with a very adjustable crossover, 180 phase switch, 4db boost at 25hz switch.
  12. Ported vs Sealed Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
I am pretty sure this question will bring out a lot of different opinions and I appreciate all answers from those that have experience with this type of project. I am building a clone-like subwoofer system to the Wilson Audio Alexandra XLF speaker. For those that aren't familiar with it, here...
  13. JBL 2235h Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Very cool Mike. Thank you! My son figured out our problem. We were using WinISD, not WinISD Pro. Funny, his name is Mike too. Do Mike's stick together or what??? Thanks again for the help!
  14. JBL 2235h Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Also the cabinet was tuned to 20hz with no low pass filter. Max power is no more than 75W.
  15. JBL 2235h Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Sorry Mike. Maybe it is because I have the free version of WinISD or maybe it is because I'm a new forum member. I don't really know but it only gives me the option of saving as a .WID file and this forum isn't allowing me to upload the .WID file type. I'm stuck I guess.... My project was pretty...
  16. JBL 2235h Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
I'm having trouble uploading the .wid file type? I have uploaded it to my dropbox. Here is the link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fqr4winds7ikzte/2235h%2012cf.WID I appreciate your thoughts on this design. Paul
  17. JBL 2235h Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Thank you Mike. I appreciate your help and advice. I found a neighbor that has a PC and we downloaded, it looks like the same program that you used, WINISD. I ran the following curve with a 12cf cabinet and 2 - 4" diameter, 11" long vents. Again, I want this driver to be used from 20-50 hz. What...
  18. JBL 2235h Subwoofer

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
I am interested in trying something that David Wilson does in his Alexandria XLF. In the subwoofer section, he combines a 12" sealed woofer with a 15" vented woofer to cover the <75 hz spectrum. He uses Focal drivers, but I am using a 12" Peerless XLS and a 15" JBL 2235h. I have the Peerless...
