Looks like you've been playing with the Spectral Decay settings. Return the Spectral Decay Left to Hann window and the Spectral Decay Right window to Tukey 0.25 brucek

When you set the listening position to 75dBSPL during the Check Levels routine, you have to be sure to raise the input volume in REW as indicated by the input VU meter to a decent level (-9 to -12), or you'll get level warnings. Don't solve the problem by going to 85dB. After you finish running...

    Home Audio Acoustics
Yes, use the Measured tab and select the traces you want to overlay at the bottom of the graph. brucek
  4. Another Level Question (Newbie)

    REW Forum
But that's the axis you should use. It's a standard 60dB swing around 75dB target - there's no real reason to use anything else. The first thing you need to do is remove the house curve when you're displaying your mains target trace. The receivers HPF would be 12dB/octave, plus your speakers...
  5. Recommend external sound card

    REW Forum
The UCA202 is a basic external stereo soundcard with a line-in and line-out that will work with REW. Works with existing USB drivers, and also has a digital out. brucek

    REW Forum
Have you read the REW HELP files and the REW Cabling and Connections Basics? The info is there to connect up and test with REW. brucek
  7. measuring VO booth

    REW Forum
The signal from REW is a mono signal, so simply feed one channel or turn off the other speaker as you've done. You must run the Check Levels routine and set the listening position (in your case, where the mic is positioned) to 75dB or a reasonable listening level, then the REW input volume...
  8. measuring drum room

    REW Forum
If you have a Behringer ECM8000 mic, then you'll require a mic preamp for it and a computer with a soundcard that has line-in (not mic-in) and line-out. Read and become familiar with the REW HELP files and the REW Cabling and Connections Basics. Also note the REW information Index and the...

It's somewhat difficult for most people to get a feel for the graphs when you continue to post them with LIN (linear) axis. Would it be possible to use the LOG (logarithmic) axis. :) brucek
  15. What made you choose LCD over Plasma?

    Home Theater System Recommendations
True enough I suppose, but I don't see that affecting my desire to purchase one today. The display I purchase isn't affected because they phase out the technology. It would only affect me if I planned to buy one in the future. Can't say I agree. The average consumer wants a single box they plug...
  16. Gated Response with REW

    REW Forum
It's real since the result of a measurement in REW is the impulse response. All other graphs are derived from it. REW has a default gate that's applied to your measurements. Take any measurement you've taken or saved and alter the gate as required. See this post for a basic explanation. brucek

  18. What made you choose LCD over Plasma?

    Home Theater System Recommendations
Those are all good points rookie, and I agree with them all. One of my problems is that when I get a phone call I like to pause my PVR and talk, then when I'm done I press play. I also watch a lot of sports. Those screen tickers are running all the time. I do this without concern on an LCD. A...

  20. Calibration Procedure Question

    SPL Meters | Mic's | Calibration | Sound Cards
Yes, just about everyone includes the preamp in their soundcard calibration loop. It's suffice to simply connect to the line-out and line-in of the preamp. Yes, that bypasses the anomalies that the mic preamp portion itself causes, but experience has shown the mic preamp portion to be small in...
