  1. 4 entry level subs or 1 high end one?

    Home Audio Subwoofers
There are a number of factors to consider with your situation... Why 4 subwoofers, was it because of the total cost or for a different reason? How many seats are you trying to cover? Multiple subs have benefits when you want to smooth our room modes but if you only have 1 viewer most of the...
  2. Sub for music first - HT second

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Mr. Physics is like Mother Nature and Father Time, they just always win.
  3. I was wondering how well the SVS PB-2000 does with music.

    Home Audio Subwoofers
    Ya never know... ;)
  4. I was wondering how well the SVS PB-2000 does with music.

    Home Audio Subwoofers
SVS just released a significant upgrade to the 2000 series called the Pro line so you picked a good time to start looking at them. Although SVS tends to lay on the marketing hype pretty thick it does sound like they made quite a few changes.
  5. Recommendations for Cheap Projectors

    Home Theater System Recommendations
Unless there's a conversion problem your room would measure 33 feet x 33 feet x 49 feet, so over 53,300 cubic feet. There are some apartments buildings smaller then that. ;) Unfortunately I have never heard of those brands so I can't help much. I wasn't even aware they sold projectors for...
  6. LS50 Sound Issue

    AV Home Theater
Your description of the issue is hard for me to put in practical terms so I can't really give you specific advise. More information would likely help however... What size room do you have? How close do you sit to the speakers/subwoofer? Did you run YPAO, and if so did you make any...
  7. 15" vented end tables!

    Ported Subwoofer Build Projects
Those look amazing and blend seamlessly with the decor. The fact you like how they sound is icing on the cake. Well done. :T
  8. Does size really matter?

    Home Audio Speakers
From what I understand the biggest difference was to the crossover so if that's all they modified - and the drivers are indeed the same - they scored a win with both cost and ease of implementation.
  9. Does size really matter?

    Home Audio Speakers
I don't imagine too many would agree BIC's are fine speakers - serviceable perhaps - but the rest of the list is. How old are the VMPS speakers? Some of their models go back to the 1990's, don't they? Pre-RP Series I think quite a large number of people would say Klipsch speakers are bright...
  10. MartinLogan Dynamo 1500x vs Hsu ULS-15 mk2

    Home Audio Subwoofers
Even if the room was physically 6000 ft^3 (fully enclosed by walls) that would still be considered very large so a sealed subwoofer is not the answer I'm afraid. A single ported 18" is really the smallest you should consider.
  11. MartinLogan Dynamo 1500x vs Hsu ULS-15 mk2

    Home Audio Subwoofers
Depending upon how large the open floor plan is neither of them may work very well. Small sealed subwoofers are not capable of doing much in really big spaces, even ones with 15" drivers. What are the dimensions of the entire area? Even though you may have a section of it designated as your...
  12. KEN KREISEL DXD-808 Subwoofer Review Discussion Thread

    Home Audio Subwoofers
Now that you mention it I do recall seeing a press release not to long ago about the new line. I think they're popular in some of the Asian countries.
  13. KEN KREISEL DXD-808 Subwoofer Review Discussion Thread

    Home Audio Subwoofers
Is that one of the original MX-350's from about 12+ years ago? If so I'm impressed you're able to blend that with a DXD 12012. Both the F8 and DXD-808 have their strengths and weaknesses, just like most things I suppose. The value leader is clearly the Rythmik so if cost is one of the primary...
  14. KEN KREISEL DXD-808 Subwoofer Review Discussion Thread

    Home Audio Subwoofers
My preferences and needs may differ from yours so what I would purchase probably won't help much. But comparing the two of them in general... Cost easily favors the Rythmik; you can buy two F8's for the price of a single DXD-808. Output favors the Rythmik too as the dual-driver design of the...
  15. New Pre-Pro, or Blu-ray player? Or both?

    AV Home Theater
But the player in question is from 2012 so I don't see how it's going to work.
  16. Hello all

    New Member Introductions
Hello John. This section of the forum is for new members to introduce themselves, not to ask product-specific questions. If you can give me an indication of what the controller is I'll try to find the best place to move this question to. That way it will get the proper visibility.
  17. New Pre-Pro, or Blu-ray player? Or both?

    AV Home Theater
Curious that. I wonder how a downstream component can process information it doesn't get, unless it's fabricating the effects based upon some algorithm and not the actual objects.
  18. What sub is this?

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Underground company eh? A riddle to get your post count up perhaps? ;) Since I passed the test what's my prize?
  19. What sub is this?

    DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
What do you mean by "underground company"? That suggests you already know who makes the driver because you seem to feel it's not a mainstream manufacturer. The unit looks well built and appears to use quality parts, something most smaller companies would be unlikely to afford.
  20. New Pre-Pro, or Blu-ray player? Or both?

    AV Home Theater
Given that you're looking to accommodate some of the most current technologies I don't think you can only upgrade one of those components. For example, if the player doesn't understand how to decode Atmos then it can't inform the signal processor (AVR) that it has some work to do. On the flip...
