    Recently, I replaced my busted Buffalo LinkStation NAS drive with a dual-disk Synology NAS. I have 200+ DVDs that want to backup to my NAS. If possible, I hope it will suffer a litter loss or without lossless.

    from homemediamagazine, Guess this clarifies that one can't copy/rip dvd movies that one purchased to your HTPC or any other device as a "backup" since it is illegal to do so. Any thoughts?

    Actually, I´m an Australian now resident in Lima. Been a Hifi fan since building tube amps for early stereo LPs at school, then advancing through transistors and ICs all the way through to Surround Sound and HD TV. Along the way I´ve worked professionally and studied digital audio processing...

    I'm trying to find a suitable backup program to backup all of my computer files on the second HDD in my laptop. I'd like to have something that will auto update any changes... probably on at least a weekly basis. I'm considering Genie Soft at 50 bucks... as well as Norton Ghost at 70 bucks...

    i can understand some of the hype about ripping dvd's. but for people like myself, i just want a back-up. i'm not going to sell or show them publicly. i paid for it so it's mine. (as long as i don't do the previously stated)right?
