    General Screen Discussion
Re: 16:9 Screen Vs. 2.37:1 CIH Screen if i have theater room that has some ambient light, should i go with a fixed screen or are there paints that will be similar in reducing effects of ambient light.
  2. My CIH HT setup in an apartment

Home Theater Room Photos (Finished Rooms Only)
Hey guys, After doing tons of reading on this forum and speaking with several people, I finally managed to pull off my setup in an apartment – I have a living room which is about 15 feet long by 13 feet wide. I already have a Panasonic VT-50 65” plasma mounted on the wall. To it, I added an...
  3. Two projectors + One HTPC = Native Anamorphic Projection???

    Home Theater Projectors
I've been really interested in CIH projection for years. Although I don't have a theater room of my own, I'm always dreaming of what I would do given the opportunity to do my own build. One of the concepts I've been interested in is using two identical projectors to produce a 2.35 projected...
  4. Why CIH Scaling Works

    Home Theater Projectors
There has been some chat (on other forums) about scaling of the image for CIH when done in the projector. Without diving into the technical side of scaling, the so called "vertical stretch" works and can be proven with simple maths. On Video, letterboxing is used to preserve the aspect ratio...
  5. HD Media and CIH

    Home Theater Projectors
I thought I would start this thread for those that have HD media and are looking to move to a wider world of CIH. I recently moved up from SD to HD DVD, and plan to soon add Blu-ray as well. What many have discovered is that their projectors lock to the 16:9 mode when a HD input is detected...
  6. 16:9 Screen Vs. 2.37:1 CIH Screen

    Home Theater Projectors
These drawings show how the two different systems work, when it comes to screen size, image size, and aspect ratio.. The first one is for 2.35:1 DVD's..
  7. Re: Do people prefer CIH setups?

    Home Theater Projectors
Re: Do people prefer CIH setups? Hi guys. This is my 2nd post here, so I would like to contribute my knowledge on CIH. An Anamorphic lens magnifies an image in just one direction - typically horizontally. There are two main types of lens - cylindrical and prismatic. The prismatic types...
  8. Do people prefer CIH setups?

    Home Theater Projectors
I have been reading up on CIH setups and find it really interesting. I love movies and it seems like 2.35 screen is the way to go. What I don't like is the complexity of running it. It just does not seem very family friendly. What are peoples thoughts?
  9. Using curtains as CIH screen masks

    General Screen Discussion
The plan for our HT room is for a 113" cinemascope screen, projected at constant image height. The motorised curtains will act as masks for the non-scope footage. Can anyone tell me if there's a particular material we need to use for the curtains? Or will any black material work?
  10. Constant Image Height (CIH) projectors: still rare?

    Home Theater Projectors
After a few months of trolling this and other HT forums, I've noticed almost everyone is going the CIH route. I understand only the Runco (?) currently has this feature on its projectors -- are there any other less expensive models coming out soon that can do CIH? I saw an NEC that can do...
