  2. Subwoofer Amps | High Pass Filters
Hoping this is the right place for this question. Looking for a little input from any of the forum sub gurus on wiring a dual voice coil (4 ohm each) sub to a two channel amp. The amp is not bridgeable and will muster 400 watts per channel at 4 ohms. What I'd like to do is wire this so that...

I spent some time today taking some REW measurements of my DVC sub in different configurations, and am intrigued by the results. I'm using a Carver a-400x amplifier which is rated at 200wpc @ 8-ohms, 300wpc @ 4-ohms, or 500w bridged with an 8-Ohm load. The sub is a DIY sonotube sub with a DVC...
  4. Sealed Subwoofer Build Projects
Hi Folks, I wondered if you could give me some advice here. I decided to build 2 x sealed enclosures for 2 LMS ultras that I brought. I used 50mm mdf to give me the least hassle building two layers and due to lack of tools/clamps etc. The boxes are around 3.5 cubic ft but (taking the...

OK, I'm sure I'm spending way too much time figuring out a first build...have purchased BASH 300 amp and assorted hardware but not yet set on driver. Have had the CSS trio as leading candidate (trying to keep budget around $300 total for build) but the room is pretty big so have been wondering...
  6. Sealed Subwoofer Build Projects
So I am looking at some ed 18's for a dual oppossed design. They come in dual 2 ohm voice coil. Ed emailed me and told me that if I bought them, the only wiring options available to me would leave me at either 2 ohm per cab or eight. Now the question I am asking is... Couldn't I wire one...

SOLD SOLD SOLD I've been very happy with my subs but my quest for more bass is making me sell them. I need $200 ea. plus $35 shipping UPS ground, or will take $700 for all four and reduce the shipping to $30 ea. to the lower 48 states. This price reduction is good until one or more drivers...

Should we be entering an "average" voice coil operating temp to get a more accurate model or is it insignificant? Posted via Mobile Device

I was wondering when picking a driver, how much the size of a voice coil matters? If all other specs are the same, would a speaker with a 4" coil perform better than one with a 2"? what about a 4" vs a dual 2"?

Hello and Happy Holidays. Have for sale a TC-3000 15" driver by TC Sounds. This driver has a quad voice coil and the newer Titanium cone before TC Sounds switched to the AXIS line. As such, xmax is only 30 mm, compared to the original which had 34 mm. The driver has the high roll surround...

Hi everyone, I have an older Denon DRA625RA receiver that is pre pro logic and is still in excellent trouble free shape. This receiver appears to be a four channel type(A and B speaker selection buttons). Currently it is driving a dual voice coil 12" sub with passive cross overs. The voice coils...

I have been using WinISD a bit lately, I notice on the driver tab there is a field for voice coil heating. Is there a formula that can be used to work this out?? Or is there a standard value to enter??? Thanks. Hakka.
