Hi everyone, Is it necessary to cover a ceiling mounted projector when it's off to protect it from dust? I had a wall mounted one (180cm high approx) and the motherboard died as a result of too much dust - at least that's what the repair guy said. Some people say dust settles and won't affect...

back on August 19, 2013 I wrote that my Onkyo 706 had bit the dust. I contacted Onkyo repair and was advised that the unit was no longer repairable(unavailability of parts). I inquired as to what the repair cost would be to repair my 809 if the HDMI board failed. I was quoted between $300 and...

My projector is in the family room/den and I'm looking to find either a custom made or off the shelf dust cover for it. I have collectables in the same room and I notice how much dust they collect. I have a PT-AE2000 which is just a big black box so I don't think it would be hard to find some...

Hey all - I just bought a Panasonic PT-AE4000U Projector a few weeks ago. (Less than 2 weeks up and running!). I finally got all the initial glitches sorted out - and now am sitting down to finally truly enjoy the unit. While watching something very bright - I noticed a spec on the screen. I...

I have an AE-2000U and it appears I have dust behind the front lens. I see no "easy" way to even get in there with some air to blow the dust out. The specks create very slight green dots on the screen during extremely dark scenes. Help! Thanks.

I'm really enjoying reading all of the advice and reviews on the Shack. I read a couple of threads that indicated they were having dust issues with their projectors. Is dust a real issue to be contended with? Do projectors like the AE4000 have filters or some other kind of protection against dust?

Having read a lot about this unit, my expectations are "aligned". Here's the story; Samsung HL-R5067WAX/WAA (Dec/05) Lamp failed. I replaced my lamp (BP96-01073A(P) and color wheel with Samsung OEM replacement parts. Picture was perfect for an hour then 'scrambled' and is replaced by green /...

Well my fear came true last night, my 2 year old daughter knocked the cover off on one of my Mission towers in the living room and pushed in the dust cap on the tweeter. My question can this be fixed and is it possible that more damage was done to the tweeter? I've heard that using a vacuum can...
