Recently, I replaced my busted Buffalo LinkStation NAS drive with a dual-disk Synology NAS. I have 200+ DVDs that want to backup to my NAS. If possible, I hope it will suffer a litter loss or without lossless.
Hello All, my father has enlisted me with the task of building/buying a HTPC for his living room. First I'll list his setup, & then I'll describe what we're after.
Martin Logan 5.1 (Velodyne subwoofer)
McCormack Sound Processing unit (no surround sound circuitry)
2 Fosgate Amps
Until the end of 2008, I had been using DVDSpot to keep track of my growing DVD collection. Unfortunately for whatever reason despite a large dedicated user base, they decided to close the site (see dead link in my sig :( ).
Since then I have looked at other options, but nothing has really...
When I run DVDs with "2.0 MONO" soundtracks on them, I have my Onkyo 605 set to default all two channel signals to PRO LOGIC II MOVIE mode which then sends the 2.0 track all to the center channel -- but the other DSP modes on this receiver I have been playing around with when watching discs with...
I should join the big picture world very soon  but I am still old fashioned with SD DVD material. I have been informed that PQ will not be that good with less than stellar SD DVD movies.
Let's make a list:
- All Pixar movies
- STAR WARS
I have an interesting situation that I hope someone can shed some light on. I own a Toshiba dvd player and about 90 dvds. I have 18 dvds that will not play in my player. I know these are good dvds because they play perfectly in a friend's Sony player, but they will not play in my player. There...
Here is something ELSE I noted regarding the behavior of the Panasonic '10A Blu-ray player....
Why is it that certain NON ANAMORPHIC DVDs in my collection are automatically detected by this machine, and stretched -- automatically -- to fill the screen better, while some are ignored?
While anyone who has been following my threads will know, I have been severely dissapointed with my Panny's upconversion abilities on standard DVD; but while I continue to find reasons to support it and give it the benefit of the doubt, I have come up with this insight...
The outdoor, brightly...
Sorry, This is likely a lame question to most of you. My DVD player is dead. SO I will be replacing it. Will it be necessary to purchase two dvd players or is the HD and Blue Ray player backward compatible.
Why do manufacturers still state that a DVD is a deluxe ultra platinum limited edition collectors box set or something else to that matter. We all know they pressed a few hundred thousand of them and 5 years from now they'll be worthless.
Do people actual buy them thinking that they're...
The other day, I burned a DVD using Ulead Movie Studio and then tried to play it on my HD-A2 but there was no sound.
As it turned out, I had to change the setting on the A2 for PCM audio instead of bitstream to get audio.
I never had to do that with my previous DVD player.
So, I'm wondering if...
I'm a happy camper! My five free HD DVD movies from when I bought my player back in April just showed up today! :)
I heard people are starting to get them, so anyone that has been waiting, you should be getting them soon.
For fans of Hong Kong action and martial arts pics, it has been torturous sitting through (or skipping) one subpar Region 1 DVD release after another. These classic movies have been hacked up in the editing room, horribly dubbed, and basically given totally indifferent attention to quality and...
