Im going to try REW using the IR windows settings to gate my driver measurement at 1m mic distance. Speaker is 1.2m from ground and 1.5m from nearest surface. Can anyone recommend left and right window times as a starting point?

What type of gating is appropriate to measure loudspeakers with? Say you are 3ft away from your elevated and in the center of the room speaker. You gate is set at 6ms. Should you use hamming, Tukey, flat-top, etc... ?

I use a PC to measure frequency response, timing, etc... People have always told me that I need to gate my measurements. Nobody has ever taken the time to explain gating to me in terms I can understand. Can someone put this into laymans terms?
