I have used REW over many years, but not for the last 6-8 years.
I want to re-calibrate my sub (four x 15" in an infinite baffle).
I have downloaded the latest REW, but am using old equipment - EMM6 mic into a XENYX803 pre-amp, and then into a Sound Blaster Creative Digital Music LX connected to...
I've long wonder about this and was once again trying to figure out what the right way is to tweak a filter set after an initial filter set is sent. I am using the BFD 1124.
Here's what I do now:
1. Take measure
2. Go to EQ window
3. Click Set Target Level
4. Click Send Filter Settings to...
OK here's the basics:
I'm a composer, so the computer and monitors are surrounded by controller keyboards and synthesizers, long hard surfaces on all sides except the back. the room has a notably short ceiling, 6' 7" tall 13' wide and 23' long. Carpet, and 2" rock wool traps on the ceiling...
I'm new on the forum and I'm from Germany. I hope my English suffices to read all the topics and I hope to get some new ideas and maybe, but just only maybe, I might have a note to make to some questions on the forum.

I did a quick measure and PEQ on my subs. Here is a graph of my stereo subs before EQ
Here is after a quick PEQ with 3 filters, the limit on my current digital XO...
Not too bad for a start,
I'm waiting on a MiniDSP nanoAVR and I'll see how it goes from there
I've read the instructions from the rew V5 Help guide by John Mulcahy and read through the forum and still can't figure out how to get things ready for measurements.
Here's what I have to work with:
HP Laptop running Windows 7, HDMI Output, built-in sound card, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go...
I have been reading about REW for years but have yet to take the plunge, although I am getting much closer.
Recently I bought a Galaxy CM-140 from Amazon (it's still in route to my house).
A mic has not been purchased yet, but I will more than likely use the Dayton EMM-6 microphone (if this a...
Hello all: I am an industrial designer that has been working in the audio industry since about 1990. Typically my role has been providing industrial design and mechanical design for loudspeakers and 19 inch rack type audio products. If you google me you should be able to find our website and...
First let me say that I am new to the physics and terminology, so please speak in crayon. I understand what is going on at a high level.
My goal of this is to get an idea of what my room is doing to the sound coming out of my speakers and to experiment with placement etc. I read an article...
Hello all. I am a newbie. I just bought a house and the first project is the mancave. So I apologize for not knowing all the linggo and other stupid questions I will ask. :)
Anyway, so I have 2 spaces in my basement. Space 1 has a 42 inch LCD LG TV. And the source is coming from a cable box via...
In http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/rew-forum/51192-recommended-hardware-rew-w-win-7-64-bit-family-room-setup.html I asked about hardware. I ended up with the Tascam US122MKII and a Dayton mic, calibrated by Cross Spectrum labs. I also picked up an inexpensive mic stand and clip...
Got REW hooked up this evening. My setup is a Denon AVR2800 feeding two different sets of mains. A pair of Energy Excel bookshelves and a pair of BES/Bertagni planars (NXT style, dipole) and a DIY sonotube sub (Apex Jr. INF10 driver) being fed by a Mackie amp. I'm using a SB X-Fi...
I have been trying to collect information on the the best practices and options of getting a HT and quickly realized that receiver + separate speakers is the way to go (at least for me). Further I have narrowed down the options on receivers that I can afford to buy now to either Denon...
I am brand new to the forums and am a beginner when it comes to HT issues so I apologize in advance for any questions that come across as "dumb". I have tried to read what I can, but man.. I never knew that doing a HT room could be so complicated.
So my first questions are about...
I've been using the BFD and REW for some years now with good results.
But with my latest setup I've been having difficulty equalizing my subwoofer(BK monolith) with the BFD 1124.
My speaker setup is: 2 KEF Q11 towers.
3 Kef eggs.
Crossover for all the...
My FBQ2496 is expected to arrive tomorrow YAY :) Have been reading the FBQ2496 manual (which was a bit "thin" I think) + the BFD guide here at the shack. I plan on programming it via MIDI. My questions are mostly about initial setup of the FBQ2496 prior to programming the first filters...
a)Is it necessary to set all the Filters in Presets 1-3 and 6-10 to Off except preset 4, 5 which are already set to PA and do I do this for both L&R banks. Is there a fast way to to this ?
b) If I only use say 4 filters , then I should set filter 5 thru 10 to Off ?
Another question re...
I am just getting into REW and audio calibration in general. I've done the THX Home Theater Pro 1 course and am currently working my way through Floyd E. Toole's book - Sound Reproduction: Loudspeakers and Rooms
I have got myself a new laptop, a pair of Cross-Spectrum calibrated...
