REW V5.17 beta 11 has added the capability to support multi-channel output using Java drivers. The Windows JRE doesn't offer multi-channel even when using an audio device capable of it, but OS X does (tested on 10.11.6) and Linux might also (not tested). There is more info in the updated help...
I've been studying and watching a lot of Videos and resources online regarding the setup/calibration of REW.
I am running Mac OS 10.8.3 with REW v5.12
Under Preferences one can set the Input/Output device. I am unable to select/see which input/output to use for the calibration test...
Can someone tell me what is wrong here. OS X 10.10.2
I get this when start ing REW
Exception during startup
I'm running REW version 4.11 on an old Powermac G5. I have an Avid Fast Track Duo audio interface and a Behringer EMC800 mic. The problem is that I can't get REW to work with that setup. The system recognizes everything just fine. When I go to the system preferences, I can see the audio input...
Apple has just released their OS upgrade (a minor one). Called "Yosemite" which should win an award for being the stupidest name since Ford called their new car "Edsel." Most of the world will be mispronouncing it "YOO-sem-might" instead of twigging to the name of the beautiful park in...
I am thinking of selling my Velodyne SMS-1 and moving to a MiniDSP 2x4, UMIK, and REW setup for subwoofer management.
My available laptop is a bit aged MacBook Pro 5.5 (mid-2009 model) - but I think it will do the job. It's got a 4GB of RAM and plenty of harddrive. I just...
I've gotten my Digi002 recognized by REW using the LineIn & Soundflower trick.
The problem is that the sweep audio seems to be late by about 2-3 seconds.
So when i do the soundcard cal, I get the "impulse peak is not where it should be" because REW is reading 2 seconds of silence before...
I'm coming to you because i have a weird issue with the Last version of REW beta 20 (not .Jar version) on my OS X based system. I have a brand new mac mini i7, i'm on 10.8.5, Apogee Duet 2 and even if it's irrelevant i'm using UMIK-1 with calibration file as mic.
So basically, whatever...
I really like the tiled Windows 8.1 "metro" GUI for my HTPC. The metro apps are perfectly sized for my 1080p screen. I can just start typing and it will automatically search Bing and my drive for files. Internet Explorer 11 Metro is the best browser I've seen for HTPC. I also like the Bing news...
I'm deciding on a 5.1 HT build and am looking at either the Swopes or the Overnight sensations.
I would probably go with the Swopes right away but the center channel is kind of tall at 9" for where I want to place it. Whereas the OS CC is only 5 1/4" tall.
So here's my question - should I mix...
Hi all, Hi John,
I'm running the latest 5.01 beta 17 on an old MacBook 13 (2006) which I recently upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard with everything up-to-date (10.6.8), Java is in the 1.6 version. Yes, I know, this is not really bleeding edge but works fine most of the time thought.
John Reekie has produced a great blog post about how to work around the problems Java has on OS X with audio input from Firewire cards, multi-input USB cards and 48kHz sources. You can find the cure for these JavaSound ills at Room EQ Wizard on the Mac - An Input Workaround. Great work John, and...
That's rather disturbing - a few questions
- Was the REW sample rate set to 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz?
- Which OS X version are you running?
- When looking at the tone on REW's RTA (with REW's sig gen set to 1 kHz) at what frequency does the peak appear?
I'm running OS 10.8.2 on a laptop. After I unzip the file and try to run the program, the OS tells me the file has been corrupted and suggests I move it to the trash. This happens with REW version 5 and 4. Does anyone have explanation or guidance?
Hi everyone, please help me. I have just purchased my first mac and installed REW. I am having an issue with the use of the IR window; it seem to behave differently from my REW on Windows.
When I had REW on Windows, I could eliminate room reflections by reducing the Right Window (ms) in IR...
I'm a little uninformed about Chrome OS, but at first glance it looks to me like REW should run fine there, assuming Java RTE V5.0 and a USB soundcard - I think.
Has anyone tried this? Are there any obvious deal-breakers that I have missed?
 1st post! - I have got to get gear before can post measurements...
Anyhoo, as the subject says, I'm trying to find a card that works *well* with both operating systems.
Here's what I know so far:
drivers don't work for Lion
ART USB Dual Pre
Bryan and All,
Yes thanks so much for the video, I am really excited to get going on some measurements! I am having a problem getting REW to recognize the ART USB Mobile Pre for inputs or outputs. I have got my Audix TR40 to work through it but only by changing the input in OSX system...
