Hi all I’ve just started playing with REW and a minidsp for my active horn setup. At this stage I’m only using bass and mid-range horns which should take me to around 10k. My first sweeps show some major dips and peaks in the sub 200hz range, as moving the bass horns isn’t an option (they’re...

Can anyone tell me why I’m seeing three impedance peaks instead of two on this Dual ported Dual driver design? Both test ports are of equal length 8 inches each. Changing port lengths does not reduce the two peaks only the tuning. Even if I remove one port and block the hole I still get two...

In cases where dips are around 10-12db, is is acceptable to set target level low purposely? It seems easier to drop frequencies and extend Q rather than work with a +3db maximum gain. (pre-amp only has gain range of -12db to +3db, which is why I would drop my target level) Is it more...

Hi fellow members, I was wondering the rule of thumb for boosting valleys with parametric eq for my subwoofer. What I've read was to cut peaks and leave valleys alone. If that's true why would the eq have the ability to boost? I'm fairly new to eq please pardon my ignorace. Dan

Hi all..... i try to understand something but, this field is very hard so i need your help. i'm testing my room and the first question, may be obvious....but needs an answer! Which is the goal of the treatments? is it to obtain a 'flatter' response curve? If yes, please take a look to the...

I am trying to a full frequency range scan of my room. I set the speaktype to full range and the sweep from 15 hz to 15,000hz. The scan seems to run fine and give me a nice graph but in the Filter Tasks dialog it will only let me find keeps from 11hz - 500hz. What am I doing wrong. I need to see...

I was comparing two driver the eminence lab and the infinity kappa perfect 120.9W. The Eminence lab 12 shows huge impedance peaks in winisd compared to infinity kappa...I should worry about impedance peaks when I'm choosing a driver?

I have a general EQing question that I've been a bit unsure about for a while. I have several peaks and dips in the area between 100 and 200hz. I've reduced the peaks somewhat, but I'm a bit uncertain if the right thing to do is to push them all the way down to the 75dB reference level or not...

I've just started getting into measuring frequency responses, but I'm excited to see if I can get better sound out of my equipment. My wallet may not be as excited, however. :spend: This is my setup: Epik Sentinel, corner loaded (only option for WAF) Radioshack digital SPL meter Behringer...

I've done some measuring with REW and just got a BFD1124. From my graphs it looks like I have some frequencies that I should want to boost.....but REW only finds those peaks that need to be reduced. I suspect that the dips are caused by the room...but boosting them does seem to change the...

I've read post from time to time where someone would post a REW graph with a pretty large dip or peak and comment that they don't seem to hear it. The response was that it apparantly wasn't at a fundamental. My question is what are these frequencies?

What type of items in a room cause peaks and nulls ? Which one of these graphs (different positions) would be best to start with ?

So I know that I'm supposed to setup my SPL meter at my listening position and adjust the test tones so my SPL meter reads 75db. Then calibrate REW to reflect 75DB also. But I still get messages about my level being to low (-35db or thereabouts). So I wind up adjusting volume so my SPL...

Hello, seems that it is not possible to use this function over 500Hz (i intend to do measurements on the full range to set up a DEQ2496). correct ?

I'm just getting started. Let me begin by expressing appreciation for all the input I get from this forum. I wouldn't have known about this technology without you folks. And I certainly wouldn't have gotten this far without all the detailed explanations that are found on these pages. Took a...

At what point in peak reduction in a freq. response start to degrade the signal? 5db, 10db, 15db reduction in a peak or doesn't it matter too much as long as I can turn the sub amp up to compensate?
