I am starting a new ported build in 4 to 7 cu feet Ftune 20Hz and i narrowed my choice to these 3 drivers:
Mach5 IXL15.2.2 the SoundSplinter RL-p15 and the TC Sounds LMS-R 15 :sn:, the latter two share the same price, where RL-p15 has more impressive, juicier motor
So i did some simulation,
Hi All, here is my proposed RL-p15 build being a single driver ported design. I can't go too much bigger than 160 litres so I thought 20Hz tune was appropriate. Is this all pretty vanilla or are there alternatives that you might suggest?
Was a little concerned with port air velocity but that...
I'm thinking of pairing the Crown XLS1500 Amplifier with my Sound Splinter RL-p15 D2 in Bridge-Mono, 4 ohms 1550W mode.
Would you consider this to be a good pairing? Anyone with experience with the XLS Drivecore Series amps?
The Crown tech support were really helpful and gave the following...
I have a set of Soundsplinter RL-p15 LLT sonotubes.
A client of mine is really interested in getting similar performance in a similar price range, but Mike is out of stock on the RL-p15.
What are his options?
I may have the opportunity to swap my 15s for 18s.
I have a Klipsch THX Ultra2 system with KL-650 LCR and KS-525 rears.
The 15s are driven by an EP2500, in LLT 13Hz sonotubes. They do a good job, but there's no substitute for displacement. I would make new sonotube LLT enclosures for the 18s...
I currently have a pair of RL-p15 LLT sonotubes and an EP2500. I may get my hands on a pair of RL-p18 pretty cheap.
So.... What to do with them...
I've been dying to try IB for a while, but it would require some creative structural engineering. Could I use all 4...

I was thinking of doing an RL-p15 build.
I'm trying hard to read up on subwoofer design but I was hoping to get pointed in the right direction to help guide me. :reading:
This is my room:
I'm renting, so the sub needs to be free standing. Due to the renting situation I'm not going to play...
Is 1 1/2" MDF needed for the cabinet if I use 2" X 2" wood for bracing in a grid of 1' on all the panels and 3" thick facia for the woofers? Is this overkill??
Also what about panel bracing on the outside of the box. The box will be in an adjcent room out of view.
Received my RL-P15 today, all in one piece. Thank`s Mike for exelent shipping. I was like a small kid on cristmas eve, this is gonna be fun. Will post som pics when i`m starting to build 2x sonosub for my hometh. Now i`m a member in the ss-club.
