I'm working on a small home theater and I want to tackle the subs. I've got spouse approval for dual subs if I keep them small, so I'm thinking ~1 cut ft sealed with some DSP. Keeping in mind that for me smaller is better... am I better off with two HO 12's or two Ultimax 10's? I havent settled...
I'm accumulating info on home subs to go with my main system. It's NOT a HT rig, it's going to be used for music only. The speakers (currently being refurbed by the factory) are a pair of Magneplanar Tympani 1C, which will be bi-amped. I'm in a relatively small room in terms of volume; it's...
I currently have a pair of adire audio tempest for my IB. I want to upgrade to the either the ib318 or the um18-22. I see the FI is quite popular but what about the ultimax? Pricewise I can get a pair of the ultimax for $100 less than the ib318. Any suggestions?
2 years ago I did a build of a sundown sa10 tuned at 26hz. You can check out my post here if you are interested:innocent:.
I still am happy with the sub and box. It is capable to go...
Parts express is out of the Dayton 15" Ultimax until Feb/March. Can anyone suggest another sub close to the price range/performace?

So finally finished one of my 18" Full Martys and been recording it in action to share with you guys. When I build the second one I will fully video log it for you all throughout the build and same with my theater room build as it happens.
But overall this thing is a beast! My wife thought I...
I am fairly new to the home theater scene - see thread here: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-subwoofers-general-discussion/151905-new-diy-need-advice-driver.html - but intend on going "all out"!!

The idea behind this was to serve as a coffee table of sorts under the screen. I built it with nothing but a circular saw so don't crack on it too hard. :) Almost finished, slapping on some paint right now and will wire it up in the next day or two. I have had two for about a year maybe, got...
This all started a couple of years ago. But I didn't know it at the time.
When I first put together my basement theater, I was optimizing for floor space, and budget. Because of that, I only purchased one SVS PC-13Ultra. The idea was that I would get another PC-13Ultra the next year or so...
Hello HTS Forum!
I am new to this forum. I have been reading up on many of the excellent subwoofer threads. Fantastic reading and great knowledge.
I have ordered a sub kit from PE. 18" Ultimax in sealed cabinet/spa1000amp. I will post pictures as I go along. This is my first build..........if...
I am modelling two setups..... two LMSR 15's vs two Ultimax 18's in a 500 liter (17.5 cubic feet) box tuned to 15hz. I get a slot port length of 4 by 24 inches wide for 56 inches long. At 1000 watts both of them seem fine for excursion, and port velocity is 17 which seems decent. The...
Well, I'd like to build an IB. After doing much reading it's apparent that the FI 18 is the industry standard for IB.
The ultimax is somewhat new and I haven't read many IB builds using it, it looks good on paper, the t-s parameters show it to be a candidate, and I've always been a fan of...
I'm close to starting a ported sub build using an ultimax 18 tuned to 15hz.
My problem at the moment is which amp to get. I am currently considering.
I live in oz and all is expensive
Dayton audio spa1000, rack amp ($580)
Crown xls1000 or 1500 ( run bridge 4ohm)($500-$650)
After having read a lot of good things about the ultimax woofers i have decided to build a pair of by own.
You can see my current home cinema setup here:
I am almost finished my home theater!!! Finally!!
I am looking to buy an amp to power 4 15" Dayton Ultimax in a sealed box. I am currently looking at 3 amps and wondering the follow:
QSC PLX 3402
Crown XTi 4000
Is the QSC PLX3402 or Crown XTi 4000 amp a good amp for driving...
I am a complete noon when it comes to modeling software. I have tried entering the parameters many times following various guides online. Either the program comes up with calculated values that are way off or it returns an error saying that the entire values do not match. Please help. I'd...
