Brand new to this.
I have a miniDSP 2x4 (not the HD version), and a UMIK-1 mic coming in the mail.
Already downloaded REW for windows.
This is going to EQ my two subs only, on a 2.2 channel setup, 100% music only.
Preamp is Halo P5, and dual PSA s1500 subs
I tried to read...
Just got new umik from csl. After REW sees it and I point it to the first 0deg file supplied with the usb sick, REW puts up a mssg box that says it doesn’t contain a cal file. I’ve emailed csl but I figured I’d ask y’all while waiting for a response. Thx!
Btw...have y’all done a measurement...
Newb to REW and miniDSP. Finishing up my diy sub and about to do some testing and measurements. Should be able to figure out everything with all the threads and tutorials but I have a question about my soundcard. Not sure how to find out if my soundcard is capable of outputting the full spectrum...
First post newbie here  I am just getting started on measuring my system and at some stage I will want to align the timing on at least the L/C/R/SW's and will need to use a timing reference.
My measurement setup is a UMIK1 mic for input and Behringer UCA222 for output. The left output is...
I was doing measurement for a new calibration file for Dirac Live. I was surprised by the graph (db level difference between left and right channel). When I created my filter Dirac applied a 3db gain difference between the channel. It sounded totally wrong. I took another measurement with REW...
So i've finally got the chance to give everything a good spin on this, it's the easter weekend and plenty of time to mess around. Forgot my charger from work for my laptop but i've got a replacement coming tomorrow and want to be prepared.
I gave this another run today based on the advice...
Hi, I bought the Mini DSP UMIK-1 microphone and when comparing the SPL meter in REW to the classic radio shack SPL meter, the REW measurement is 5db hotter. I have the correct calibration file loaded for the microphone, could it be something else?
I'm trying to use MSO and I realize that my measurements need a timing reference.
UMIK-1 USB Microphone
Win 7 Computer with latest drivers
HDMI connection to AVR
In the computer, I can set it to 7.1 and sent a test tone to each speaker in the system.
However, when I go to REW Preferences, I...
If I use JAVA the UMIK1 USB is in the input list.
If I select ASIO the UMIK1 USB mic is not in the input list.
I installed ASIOALL and the UMIK1 USB is in the input list but a much lower input level than java.
Should I use the JAVA driver or ASIOALL driver ?
I have laptop connected to receiver via HDMI.
I am trying to measure my room acoustics, I have issues with stereo imaging and bass.
I need help with settings. I know the basics, and have ran some tests but they are not right.
When I am on generator do I choose full range?
Do I set speakers...
im using REW 101 HTS step by step pdf
i get to step 3a page 39 & have the following problem
UMIK-1 does not show up in the input box......
what i get is..Conexant HD Audio capture 1
..and............Conexant HD Audio capture 2
however if i go back & select java as the driver, umik-1...
I'm trying to calibrate my simple stereo speaker setup so I can use this setup with Pro Tools for small post-production audio jobs.
I have a smaller room so I want to calibrate the speakers to 78 dB.
I received my miniDSP UMIK-1 mic from Cross Spectrum, which currently I want to use as...
UMIK-1 suddenly shows very lowered noise floor: in quiet room, previously about -45 dB, now shows -75 Db or so, about 30 dB off. And it shows in the measurements (REW, also Holm), all are rejected as "low level" .
The unit does react - the record meters "jump" - but the overall level is 30 dB...
I am currently looking for ways to get e.g. the UMIK-1 wireless and, beside that, solar powered.
The problem is to be able to place measurement microphones, where it makes sense from an acoustic point of view, without having to cope with cables.
Typical wireless microphones don't have the...
I am using the UMIK-1 (Calibration file 700-9345) and Win7 for a student project and want to comprehend the final step of SPL computation in REW. I understand the steps for frequency- and time-weighting (dBA/C/Z, Slow/Fast).
I located "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\room eq...
I plan to buy a MiniDSP UMIK-1 microphone for equalizing my music room using REW and a DEQ2496.
The PC and the equalizer will be rather far (> 5 m) from the listening place. I thus need a long USB extension cable.
I wonder whether an active extension cable such as the ones sold...
I am new to testing speakers and setting them up in a room and have a few questions. These are based on using the miniDSP UMIK-1, a cheap(ish) Acer 5742G Laptop and Windows 7 for testing purposes:
When using the UMIK-1 will it work with "any" USB ports or must the be of a particular spec?
Want to make sure I am doing this right, still learning and developing a process.
1) Run XT32
2) Connect the Umik-1 to my laptop and open REW (have narrow band 90 degree file with sensitivity number in the file)and the built in SPL meter
3) Fire up the blu-ray player and put in spears and...
