I have a weird issue going on with my UMM-6 calibrated mic. I am generating pink noise and using REW SPL meter and a CM-140 SPL meter placed next to each other and the UMM-6 is reading 10db lower than the CM-140. The only reason I did this was because I could tell tell UMM-6 was not giving an...
I posted this over at AVSforum earlier and didn't get any response, so I thought it might be better to post here.
After wanting to learn REW for the last few years, I finally decided to give it a go. My Dayton UMM-6 mic arrived last night, and I just finished installing REW on my laptop. I was...
I was setting up for a 4th round of measurements and the program kept throwing this error and wouldn't recognize the mic.
Typically I plug the mic into the laptop and start Rew....and a window pops up 'Rew has found Umm-6 mic, would you like to use it?' And it's right after saying yes that it...
I just got my UMM-6 last week. I've read all the tutorials and set it up on my laptop using HDMI out to my XMC-1 for measuring frequency response of my new drivers Usher 8945A and Tymphany xt25tg30-04.
The measurements look good up til after 5k or so and really by 10k the response is steadily...
My first post here in the forums and I've tried searching for a solution to my problem, but can't seem to pull anything up (I apologize in advance if this is already covered elsewhere, I did read through a bunch of links and manuals and help files).
I am getting setup to take some...
I've just got the Dayton Audio UMM-6 microphone and got the REW installed on the laptop.
My issue is that when I connect the laptop to the Receiver (Denon X4000) through Aux, there is an audible hum. Increase in volume makes it louder. Ive tried connecting my phone through the same cable...
I recently purchased a umm-6 from parts express as my first jump into REW. While setting up the measurements (preferences in REW), it seem that the measurement levels are very low. I output a -12dB sweep 'Check Levels' tone, and only measure a -53dB response. This is with the mic placed directly...
OK, feeling pretty frustrated with this… First I bought the wrong microphone (Emm-6), which was causing its own set of problems (but was somewhat functional). Decided it meant enough to me to use REW that I went ahead and bought the Umm-6 instead, which I thought would be much easier to work...
I got my UMM6 USB mic and set up REW today - got the mic from dayton so i hope it's ok since it hasn't been calibrated by cross spectrum. I level calibrated every speaker on my NR609 to 75db (the 2eq had them at about 73db. I did this with my subs also after turning off any EQ i had applied to...
Good Afternoon, I am new here, recently acquired the Dayton Audio Microphone umm-6 and intend to use it to make measurements in my room with the rew program, is there any special tip on how I can accomplish this measurement ? big hug
I'm trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong, or if my UMM-6 is a dud. I've tried it on both my HTPC and my laptop running 64-bit Windows 7 with similar results. When I load REW beta 17 it asks if I want to use the UMM-6, which I say yes to, then load the calibration file I downloaded...
For REW/home theater measuring by a non-pro, are there any differences between these mics?
Does the lack of timing loop compromise the usability of a USB mic over a USB preamp and balanced mic, or is there a workaround that moots it?
REW tells me that I do not need to calibrate the UMM-6 mic for SPL, but when I compare the SPL REW indicates with my Radio Shack SPL there is about a 10 db difference.
1. Bad Radio Shack meter?
2. Bad UMM-6?
3. Bug in REW?
I've tried to setup my system, but get low level indicaters when trying to set SPL.
No audio through AVR from REW. Laptop test sounds are all good (5.1).

Please help an acoustic engineer from feeling so dumb. Without spending the time needed to fully learn REW, I simply want to get the UMM-6 mic up and running. Can you outline the procedure?
Here is what I tried:
There's those popular 2 choices:
- miniDSP UMIK-1
- Dayton Audio UMM-6
Both of them with USB connection as I have a 'regular' HTPC with onboard sound-card.
Which one is better? Do they both support REW?
My Samson USB CU1 is much, much more sensitive.
The UMM-6 can't be clipped, even at 100% levels in the Win 7 Mixer control.
It's working, but seems super insensitive.
Anybody have experience with this measuring mic, the USB version?
Since I still struggle to get the settings right with my Art Preamp and Dayton microphone using Mac OS X, I was thinking of buying this Dayton Audio UMM-6 USB Measurement Microphone http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=390-808. Anyone use this and is it a "plug and play'...
