hi guys, what's the name for black velvet at JOANN? i need some for covering screen trims.
i know there are syfabrics and fidelio, but these are online. i don't want to buy and wait.
there's a local JOANN store nearby, i want to go there with a 50% coupon and buy some. thanks
So, with the scope of the projector wiring project looking doable, I'm thinking it's time to start finalizing the planning on a DIY screen. Right now, I'm leaning towards something simple:
48x96" 1/2" MDF cut to a 92" diagonal with a 1.5" border
Kilz2 primer on all surfaces
Black Widow Paint...
So I have the screen mounted on pegboard just like the little video suggests. The question is...Do I mount it to the wall first, then project an image, THEN put on the velvet tape? Or... Do I mark off a 16:9 rectangle (8x4.5) on the screen THEN velvet tape it and then hang it?
If you've done...
So, having lived with my Elektra N8 screen for a few months, its finally time to frame it.
The screen is ~110"W x 62"H. I just ordered some Royalty 3 Velvet in black from JoAnn's using a 50% off coupon to force me to get started on the frame.
I am looking for advice on how to best mount it...
I'm looking for some velvet to cover my screen frame. Would like to buy 3 yards of fidellio velvet but it ia quite expensive ($20/yard). Since it's 48" wide I wanted to see if anyone was interesting in splitting the cost? I don't need $40 of velvet sitting in the basement. I only need like 16"...
We rolled on Screen Goo digital grey and it looks fantastic! We edged it with 3 inch black velvet tape and the tape won't stick for more than 30 minutes, then sluffs off.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
I have a 109" digital grey Screen Goo screen. My friend gave me a free liter of it, with base coat and it makes the Epson 6100 look great, and I haven't even calibrated it yet.
Before the velvet curtains go up on the sides, top and bottom, I'd like to frame in the screen using 1x3's wrapped in...
I've got a pretty good idea on how to set up the frame, but I'm a little stumped about how to put on the Black Velvet around the border. Do you guys wrap the border before you attach the screen to it or afterword?
I am trying to find a cheaper alternative to velvet for my walls.
Would either of these do?
1. Spandex black velvet
2. crushed blak velvet
I know velveteen is good, but I can actually get these particular velvets for less.
