  1. DIY Subwoofers - General Discussion
Bare with me here. I have been reading all I can with regards to a DIY HT sub. I downloaded the Winisd beta and pro versions and have entered the parameters. The beta is easier to understand (a ton less info to digest) than the pro for me. Is it as simple as building the enclosure as recommended...

I'm working on my first DIY sub project and I'm having issues figuring out WinISD. It seems fairly straitforward and I have read the included guide and one on Hometheatershack. I'm modeling an LLT design using a 15" driver. I'm looking at a volume of around 14-16ft^3 with a slot port of...

I just started playing around with WinISD, and when I adjust the port size there is a box titled "vent mach" that also adjusts. Sometimes the numbers are red, and sometimes green. What is this number for? Side note: Good program, but the whole metric thing stinks.

In the system input power do I put the amp's power?

I would like to know more about the amplifier requirements caused by EQ and how to model this in WinISD. In another thread I came across this regarding WinISD and EQ: It was my understanding that to correctly model EQ power requirements in WinISD, you utilise the fact that for every 3dB...

Should we be entering an "average" voice coil operating temp to get a more accurate model or is it insignificant? Posted via Mobile Device

I am interested in building a sub with multiple vents of slightly different lengths to decrease port lengths and smooth out resonances. When you increase the number of vents in WinISD, the vent length goes up proportionally. I assume this is giving the total length of all the vents. If that...

What are the pros/cons of simply using the default plot WinISD gives for a particular driver in a particular alignment. Please, for now, ignore room gain as well as room peaks and nodes

How would I model two drivers, in seperate boxes? Like if I wanted to model two subs with a tune of 15.34hz, would I just make it one big box in WinISD with that same 15.34hz tune?? Thanks for any help

I would like to know how I can use WinISD to model a dual chamber ported box. I would like to know if it is better and how it is better than just a regular ported box. I was going to use this (http://www.diysubwoofers.org/prt/dual_chamber.htm) as the basis of box. Is this correct?

I input all known parameters of a mach5 IXL 18" and when I went to save it gave an error (parameter error list) and it said consistency check on following parameter groups failed. See help file for recommended data entry procedure. Not sure what to or where to find info. I don't want to have to...

Last nite I redownloaded WinISD and entered Fi IB18 data via the recommended proceedure from a thread on this forum. It worked perfect, one of few times I entered driver data with almost no unknows before clicking save and it was accepted. But, I plotted the recommended/suggested sealed and...

I need help. WinISD is spinning my head:dizzy: I am wanting to build a 15" sonosub tuned to around 15hz (or whatever is ideal). I have been playing around with WinISD, and I have a few questions. Here is what I have decided on so far: 24" by 48" sonotube CSS SDX15 driver Behringer EP1500...

I have a couple of questions to help me better understand what I am looking at in WINisd. Transfer function magnitude graphs for two different drivers tuned to 16Hz.: 1. Is this essentially the modeling of the anechoic response curve? 2. Where does room gain start to kick in? I seem to...

Can WinISD calculate the cone excursion for a ported sonosub enclosure? I have attempted do calculate this, but the excursion data seemed awfully low (i.e. .05 inches).

As you may have read I am trying to decide on a sub build, I made up these designs in WinISD but I am not sure id they are good designs. It seems like the 10cf box tuned to 17.5hz looks good (the port is 12X4X35.66 with a freq of 189hz)but I don't understand what the other graphs tell me so can...

Hi I was hopping to get some tips on adding Maelstrom-X Parameters into WinISD Pro's Speaker Editor... I got the Maelstrom-X parameters off Kevins Diy cable web site as well as the parameters for the PR18 passives.... No matter what I do WinISD wont except them I just keep getting error's... I...
