12" Driver
Qes: 0.49
Qms: 4.5
Qts: 0.44
Fs: 26.9 Hz
Vas: 58 L
Xmax: 23 mm
SPL (1W/1m): 87.8 dB spl
Power Handling: 800 W
Bl: 17.7

Powered by a 500w 8 ohm rack amp.

Looking ideally for around 3-5 cuft, ported, tuned reasonably low. (20hz?)

I can't seem to get any decent graphs in winisd.

If someone with a little more knowledge could spare some time to help me out I would much appreciate it.

Hope to hear from you guys soon

Cheers for the welcome :)

Unfortunately I don't have the Re of the sub. The sub is actually a "car audio" sub. Yes, I know that it isn't designed for use in a home environment, but testing it in a little sealed enclosure it sounds quite promising :).

Sub: SNG Audio Jatt 12

This enclosure / sub combo is going to be ran with a BK Monolith that I already own. This is mainly a 'just for fun' project to pass time, although I would love it to perform well accompanied with the bk sub.

Cheers for your reply, and I hope to hear more soon!

My fault for not paying attention, sub is dual 4 ohms wired to 8. Amp running bridged (500w / 8ohms)

Slot port sounds fine, will design a box later on today with those specs ^.

You couldn't upload the file for me could you?

Cheers, Craig.

Cheers for the file matey :)

Could anyone help me out with the enclosure design as well please :praying:

I have a maximum of:
W: 27.5 inches
H: 23"
D: 16"

Target of 4cuft and 21hz tune.

I can't seem to get close enough with those limits in mind.

3/4 inch MDF using your dimensions you are close to 4.6 cubic feet.
25.5 x 21.5 x 14.5 internal dimensions = 7949.6 divide by 1728 = 4.600
So you are a little big just size it down a little and don't forget to add
in the room the port takes up.

Here is a calculator to make it easier.

Cheers for that mate. Am I correct that a slot port shouldnt exeed 1:8 ratio (H:W) ?

I don't think I can get the correct tuning if using a "slot port" design as the port would be 27.5 or 23inches wide, whichever side I put the port, minus the wood thickness ofcourse.

Just for a quick look I was using the RE Enclosure calculator, and using a 2 inch wide port, 21.5 inches high, the ports length is too large before I reach the correct tuning.

Any ideas? I'm going to plan it out on google sketchup before I cut the wood and post a pic on here to make sure its correct.

Hope to here some feedback from you guys :)

The port only needs to be 2" high and 10" wide for an acceptable airspeed with the amp you're using.
Cheers for that :)

So just use 10" of one of the sides? or would it be best not to make it a slot port for that size ^?

Pros / Cons?

Going to create it in google sketchup now :nerd:

Unfinished of course, but does that port seem ok to you?

I'm guessing you measure the port length (after its turned 90*) from the bottom of the box? (As shown in the first pic) :hide:

Looks pretty good to me :) Thanks allot for your help. Lets hope it sounds good with my bk sub.

Would you suggest moving the driver up a few inches?

Any other things I should look at or know before I go ahead and get the wood cut?

Cheers again, Craig. :jiggy:

All the bracing adds to around 0.3cuft. That and the driver displacement brings it to around 4.3 cuft.

Any good?
