Hey guys, new to the forum here and I could use some of your advice. I am on a pretty strict budget and have been looking at the 120" motorized Favi screen for around $200 which seems like an amazing price. I will probably be using an Optoma HD20 and will have some ambient light.

I am open to any suggestions on the screen or even the projector or if anyone on here has used either, what their thoughts are. Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Do you have any screens that you can suggest? Something for some ambient light about 120" preferably motorized for a decent price? Thanks

Both mono price and projector people sell cheap motorized screens. If you can afford it go with a tension motorized screen from projector people. Shipping is around $100. Locally the frys by me has started carrying screens. You can save on the shipping.

Look at the gain of the screen. With a 120" screen you will need a pretty bright projector. My setup is an Epsom 8700 ub with a 1.1 gain 120" inch screen. I mostly watch movies at night so ambient light isn't a problem. I think projectorpeople website has a calculator for screen size and gain that is calculated for what ever type of projector you have. I'm happy with my Elite. I know there are much better screens but mine is set up in family room slash theater room.

What advantage does a gray screen provide over a matte white screen?
Unless you have a PJ with great black levels AND a HT with very dark room surfaces (to control light bounce-back onto the screen during use) a gray screen will provide higher perceived image contrast and richer colors than a white screen.

Look for an Elite CineGrey. The HD20 is bright enough for this screen. You need the gray screen for the reasons Don states above and this statement you made:

That looks like an awesome screen but because of my setup, I need an electric screen and the elite screen is $900 compared to $200 :( I may be better off just finding a way to get rid of all ambient light. I appreciate all your guys help! Thanks for the continued input. Wish I didn't have a budget :T

Have any of you guys heard of a Focupix HDVio Grey electric screen or the Elitech Motorized High contrast grey screen. I found them for under $400 and I just can't find anything else out there for under $500 that is electric 120" and a grey screen.
