Greetings all. I'm looking to find out about a pair of very impressive subwoofer drivers I have come to own. I purchased them about a year ago to begin building a pair of sonotube subwoofers, however with the lack of specs/tc parameters, and going back to school, I have not yet gotten around to it.. Anyways, Im hoping to get some help on how to discover what these mystery drivers are. I bought them from an authorized Krell dealer, who says they are NCA Labs drivers, unused, but that was its limitations. the only thing I discovered was a serial (?) number on the bottom of the cone which reads "CN1530.1" Does anyone know much about NCA Labs and their drivers? I know they build the woofers for many of the high end companies. I was told by the friend I purchased these from that these drivers are a prototype woofers for the Krell Master Reference subwoofer. Who knows for sure... Thats where you fellows might come in! Any ideas? I e-mailed the company once before, and never got a reply back. I just sent them another email. But do any of you mates have any info/ideas for me? :dontknow:

Here is a link to the Drivers. <div style="width:480px;text-align:right;"><embed width="480" height="360" src="http://pic2.pbsrc.com/flash/rss_slideshow.swf" flashvars="rssFeed=http%3A%2F%2Ffeed1185.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz350%2Fjohnstms92%2F15%2520Subwoofer%2520Drivers%2Ffeed.rss" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" /><a href="javascript:void(0);" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_geturs.gif" style="border:none;" /></a><a href="http://s1185.photobucket.com/user/johnstms92/library/15%20Subwoofer%20Drivers" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_viewall.gif" style="border:none;" alt="johnstms92's 15 Subwoofer Drivers album on Photobucket" /></a></div>

Mike, I was already contemplating purchasing the Dayton WT3 and doing just that... Looks like that will be what I end up doing, unless someone still speaks up here and could save me the $100! ha:yes: Or perhaps theres someone close to my area (Madison - Milwaukee) who wouldn't mind showing me the ropes and helping me to test the parameters of these drivers?? I'm all ears Wisconsin!

NCA Labs is in business and selling under the name Clearwater Audio - http://www.ncalaboratories.com/ Since Parts Express still sells their Titanic line of subs with the "made in the USA" label, I'm pretty sure NCA is still building them. They did in the past. They also provide the dual basket driver for Wilson Audio's sub called Thor's Hammer. It's the same dual basket design NCA builds for Memphis Audio.

It doesn't surprise me that Krell with this route with their supplier. TC Sounds used to supply the 15" driver to them. If you find a picture of the cone, it's a dead giveaway.

When you pull the T/S parameters, post them. I'm curious as well.

Robert,

Very interesting regarding Wilson's Thor's Hammer. I'm very familiar with the sub as well as TC Sounds. The more I dig up on NCA labs the more I'm finding out about they're good reputation for building solid drivers. I'm still looking to pull the parameters on these drivers and I will be sure to post them once I do.

(anyone near Watertown, WI with a wt3 or other testing equipment?)

I'd also try the DIY section at AVS Forum and the Tech Talk Board at PE to find someone with WT3. I'd be happy to pull the T/S parameters for you but that's quite a drive.

Looking at your pictures, the motor looks like a pretty standard 3 slug TC-9 type motor. I have a pair of motors that are similar - http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/...know-where-i-can-find-another-motor-like.html Based on the motor, it can be a very, very good sub. Similar motors are used by TC and PSI http://psicaraudio.com/products-page/platform-2-subwoofers/15″-platform-2-subwoofer/
