In the absence of decent RCA audio cables to connect a device (e.g. CD player) to an amp, could you use digital coax cables? If so what effect on the quality of the signal is likely?

If the amp has coax input, of course you can.

If so what effect on the quality of the signal is likely?
Barring pathological examples (e.g. $10, malfunctioning, "audiophile", etc. CD player), or imaginary ones, or "I heard it I said so" type anecdote, etc., no audible to human ears quality effects are likely.

Audio cable threads tend to attract trolling and contention, so please tread lightly, thanks.

cheers
