Guys,

I believe I found out why I am only able to use REW in auto surround mode on my Pioneer elite SC05. The reason is the signal being received by the AVR is an analog one and therefore the AVR won't direct any bass to the subwoofers in the direct/pure direct modes. Is there anyway around this? I would prefer to do REW measurements in direct/pure direct modes because that is where I do most of my listening.

Thanks,
Pete

There is usually a "direct" or "stereo" mode that includes bass redirection to make use of the subs, best check the manual for the receiver. If you can't get it going at all you can just connect the soundcard output straight to the subs, but you will then bypass the receiver's crossover filter so you should expect the signal to extend to 150 or 200Hz or so, depending on how your sub's are configured.
