OK I am starting over with my Sub eq. and I am looking at my basic setup. I have an old lexicon and I am running the sub out from the sub output on the Lexicon through a Y connector to the two channels in the BFD then out to a Kenwood amp to my two VMPS subs. I have played with my output level on the lexicon and I realised that this directly effects my input on the BFD so I need to adjust the two together. I do not have a volume control on my subs since the signal goes straight from the BFD to the sub amp which has no adjustments.

My question is: Can I use a preamp between the BFD and the sub amplifier? It seems that this would give me volume control and maybe some gain? Since by applying filters I am reducing the output to my subs and I need to compensate somehow. Or would this overload everything?
