Hello All,

I am looking at getting a Crown XTi 1000 for my Paradigm CCC 690 Center channel.

Would it be better to let the built in cross over do the work or smarter with better sound to Bi-Amp the center channel??

If better to Bi-Amp how do I go about setting the cross over points? What Frequency do I set the Highs and Lows to start?

Thank you

The short answer is Yes it will sound better.
However, the road that goes from passive cross overs / speakers to active cross overs / speakers, is a long and tortuous one.
There is a lot more to Bi-Amping than just connecting up a set of wires. In order to reap the benefits of active bi-amping you'll need measuring equipment so that you can attenuate the HF and LF to match. (Something that would have been done with in the passive cross over network)

Level matching HF and LF is the easy bit. You'll also need to find out what the passive cross over points are and what slope is being used. This isn't necessarily straight forward as the Crown may not have the exact cross over point or slope. If this is the case, then you'll need to experiment a little.

There is a little more to it.. don't want to scare you off too much.. lol

There is not a short answer if you are going to take a consumer grade speaker and replace the original passive crossover with an external crossover of your own design.
I would not say it is a given that you can make the Paradigm 690 sound better than it does as designed either, but if this is something you want to do to learn from please create a thread and detail the experiment.
