Hello,

I noticed about a month ago that there was a couple of black/purple pixel spots on the projected image, but due to their numbers, they did not bother me too much. However they have multiplied in numbers over the last few days and it's beginning to disrupt ones viewing pleasure.

I have had the projector for about 4 years and have not changed the bulb yet, could this be causing the spots? Any ideas what could be the cause and what i can do to fix this? All suggestions and advice is graetly welcomed.

What model projector? More than likely there is dust in the light path somewhere.

The projector is a Sanyo PLC - XU88. Excuses for the lack of info previously.

As Mech mentioned, it could be dust in the light path. Its an LCD projector, are the spots sharp individual dots or are they fuzzy almost ring like?

Are the " black/purple pixel spots" individual pixels or a group of pixels that are black?

Upon closer inspection, they are certainly purple, not black. They appear to be inside the actual pixel but are fuzzy around the edges.

If they are purple then it's stuck pixels, if they were black they would be dead pixels. There are various ways to "fix" stuck pixels on computers screens and TV's, I'm not sure how it would apply to the small LCD's in your projector.
