Hi everyone, just a quick question about the auto-air aluminium base fine and batch numbers. I've just purchased a bottle with a code number 1aa-c15.05 05 (01). Can you tell me if this is an old batch or new? I'll be making the UK version of black widow but want to make sure I know the correct matte (either Bermuda beige or a dulux steel grey) to mix in before I buy it. Will I be making black widow or black widow ultra with this bottle? Advice much appreciated. Might let you see my cinema when it's finished ;)

Hi guys!
Dear mech and Yiannis 1970, after reading many pages of the forum, I can not understand what the formula for the Black Widow is the latest and most effective for viewing on DLP BenQ W750 screen 80" in the room with complete control of lighting?
Dulux 00NN 53/000 grey steel 2 + AAA in the 4: 1, all right? Perhaps I should choose Dulux 00NN 62/000? How do you think?
Please help me understand. Thank you!

Hello!

You don't need the extra gain of the black widow with such a small frame. I would suggest to go with a N7-N8 OTS matte or flat gray.

Yiannis, thanks for the advice!
I read some more posts Harpmaker and realized that an increase in the gain of the screen in my case came to nothing lead. Contrast can not be increased. But I would like to get deeper blacks.
Please advise me, what kind of paint should I use - Dulux, Beckers or Tikkurila (I chose the color RAL 000 75 00)?
Thanks you!

hi there,
I am a little confused as which ral code should I use.

my pj is pf1500g which is 763 lumens (high & calibrated)
I will project it to 86.7 inch screen. (192 cm diagonal)
throw distance is 279 cm (9.5 feet)

the room has 2 light sources, set away from pj and light is indirectly reflecting to wall and floor.(dimming adjustable as well)
in the day time lots of light enter the room.
I want to use the projktr both for watching TV and movie. (mostly at night)

how dark should I go for choosing gray? thanks guys.

Hi All. New here, first post!
Im from Sweden in Europe

i recently bought an Epson EH-TW 9200W (6030UB in US)

im setting this up in my living room, with white ceiling, ambient light from left (hallway) and some from the right from windows, have blackout curtains tho.

have the PJ 3.4m from PJ Wall, im going to paint the whole wall in BW paint. measuring around 110" in projectionscreen on the wall

Im also a bit confused, have googled BW paint in and different setups/mixes in a couple of weeks, and cannot make up my mind wich base that will be the best for me!

Im a big fan into 3D movies, and what i have read its a difference in basecolor if im going 3d or non 3d base? is that correct?

in evening/night its almost complete black in here, besides from the roof that is painted white.
I will have my PJ calibrated after the screen is done painting from a friend that is working as an ISF calibrater.

hope you guys have time to look into this post and tell me in the right way.
Thanks.
//Chris

Hello Coffe81 and welcome to the forum!

Well, let's see...9200 outputs calibrated about 600+ lumens. Your screen is 3.36 square meters. With a 1.0 gain screen, you 'll have 600:3,36 = 178,5 lux aka 56,8 nits. So, i believe the best choice for you is to go to white paint or screen.

Hi folks,

First time owning a projector, and first time posting. Just got a BENQ 1085ST Projector yesterday, set it up in my room with a image diagonal of anywhere between 178" and 184". Project calculator says that comes out to around 21fL assuming a gain of 1.0. There's a little bit of ambient light I can't control which comes in from under the door and between the crevices of my wooden window covers, but it's pretty insignificant.

Now I've read enough to understand that this is what I'm looking for for the base: The 4101 AA Aluminum Base Fine from Airbrush Direct

So I have just three questions and I apologize in advance if I missed it elsewhere in the thread:

1. Do I need some sort of primer or after finish coat?

2. What paint should I be mixing with and what's the easiest way to get it in the US?

3. Assuming a 4:1 ratio of paint:base, how much do I need to cover the 100 sq/ft or so of screen I've got?

Thanks!

Hey All,

This is my first post and have been reading the posts. There is some great information on here and lots of research has been done.

I too am going with Steel Grey 2 with AAA. I am considering 2 coats. How long do you think I should let the first coat dry for?
I am whitewashing the walls first with a matt emulsion.

Thanks. :T

Hello and welcome to the forum!!

If you could give us a bit more information about your set up (which projector? throwing distance? lamp hours? seating distance?), perhaps we could help you more.

Hi All

Excited since I am receiving my first projector ever :) I believe this is the best forum where I could shoot my questions concerning spray mixes. I read about the BW mix, but still do not understand which base I have to mix with the AAA.

Just to sum up:
-I bought a W1110 (HT2050 I believe in NAR) (not here yet ...)
-Throwing distance will be approximately 4m from the screen.
-I already painted the walls in a dark grey colour (close to black)
-Left the ceiling white though, dont know whether this will make a big difference.
-There is only 1 window, which can be covered with a curtain which does not let any light through at all, so the room gets pretty dark.

So what do you guys suggest to mix with my AAA, and in which proportion?

Thanks in advance for your help!

S.

Noone?
Meanwhile I receievd my projector, played it back on a primered wall (just plain white), and I must say the result is already amazing! Just curious how much effect a properly painted wall has on the image ...

its around 140 inch. I took your recommendation of another thread and went for caparol grau 15, and added 1:4 4101 ALU. Result is great!
