I have a plastic brine tank from our old water softener that I swear is looking at me to put a sub driver in it :daydream:.

Dimensions H 40" x D 18" thickness of plastic almost 1/8" (there is also a 3.5" ID X 36" plastic pipe that runs down the one side that is thick walled and could be used as a port.)

Any thoughts regarding the suitablity of this container and what might be done to make it usable?

Thanks

The sides shouldn't be an issue, it would be like a sonotube. The sides could be reinforced with a couple of MDF rings. The top and bottom would be the problem, reinforcing with MDF should work. No guarantees. You would have a net volume of about 5.3 cu.ft. cutting the "port" back to 12.5 inches would tune it to 18 hz. Keep us updated if you do decide to do something with this. It would definitely be a unique subwoofer.
