Well, I'd like to build an IB. After doing much reading it's apparent that the FI 18 is the industry standard for IB.
The ultimax is somewhat new and I haven't read many IB builds using it, it looks good on paper, the t-s parameters show it to be a candidate, and I've always been a fan of Dayton. I've used many Dayton drivers and never been disappointed. I've always thought that they were very high quality per $.
I know the ultimax is great in sealed or ported but, I'm curious if anyone has insight as to whether this is as good or better than the FI for IB.

Any thoughts?

I have always been a fan of the Dayton subs as well. Have you modeled them in any software to see how they match up to actual Ib subs? I can't speak specifically for the IB 18 as I am using 4 of the Q 18 subs from FI. But I must say I am very impressed with the outcome.
