My brother-in-law has a Denon, don't know the model number but I believe it's the 2600 series, the one below the 3800 series.
Anyway, he says after turning it on, it shuts down after 5 seconds. He thought is was due to high temperature but did this while the unit was cold.
Is the amp blown?
Thoughts?

Have him disconnect all the speakers from the back of the receiver and try to power it back on and see what happens. This is usualy caused by a short in one of the speaker wires. make sure there are no loose strands of wire touching the receiver or crossing over to the opposite terminal at the speakers or the receiver ends.

Thanks Tony!
I'll let him know. I knew it wasn't blown due to it turning on to begin with. The way it was set up is the probable cause. You see, he just bought this nice condo and it already hasd this system, unfortunately all of the wiring is crammed in the rear of the units.
