Tend to prefer EXTREMELY "tight" sounding bass and have found over the years that a lot of ported subs sound "boomy" and run out of steam too easily. That may be attributed to me not having them dialed in correctly but setting that aside... I'd like to build a pair of subs using the Ultimax 18 due to reading so many great reviews on them. BUT! Do I go with the Minimarty or just pick up the sealed KD cabinets? I'm going to sell the DVC385-88 from my TubaHT and my nu1000DSP. I'll pick up either the 6000 or look into a different sub amp to power them. I just ordered a UMIK-1 so I can properly dial it in.

I run 10cft ported to 17hz. It rumbles really well. Not particularly punchy unless I turn the gain up a lot. I still love it. I think I would miss the low end if I built a sealed box. But if you like tight bass build 2 sealed.
