Hi All,

I just received my ECM8000 and tried to use it with a Hosa XLR female to RCA adapter to connect to the UCA 202 but it does not seem to work.

One of the pins in the Hosa adapter seems to be loose so that could be the reason.

I am planning to pickup a new RCA female to XLR cable next week.

However, people on this forum seem to be using a mic preamp / phantom power with ECM8000. Can you please help me understand if that's mandatory or will my mic work just fine for usual REW measurements (mostly under 150 Hz) once I replace the adapter?

Hi, the ECM8000 does need phantom power.
Thank you. I should have researched before ordering :(

Buying a pre-amp + cables on top of the ECM8000 cost gets it very close to UMIK-1, so I just ordered the UMIK-1 instead and listed the brand new ECM8000 on ebay.
