Just installed my new Onkyo 818, setup networking which works great, but now I am short a Cat 5 space for my BluRay player. Is adding more space as simple as adding a 5-bin splitter? Does it slow the speed down any more than obviously the sharing of signal, or is there additional loss by adding the splitter?

Thanks!

I'm looking at the one below:

Thank you Peter. Often times my daughter streams HD Netflix shows to the wireless BR in another room when we are doing the same in the HT, would this cause the bottleneck you mention if I use the cheapy hub? We also have several iPhones that drain the wireless too.

Would you recommend the Asus over the other one?

Doug, the 100Mbps in your link should be fine. Assuming you're only streaming to either you 818 or BR player (not both at the same time) you won't have an issue. Netflix, for example should not use any more than about 10Mbps for HD streaming. The wireless streaming to your phones or other BR players won't have an effect on the performance of your hub, and vice versa, based on your intended configuration. The limitation will be your ISP bandwidth and your wifi router bandwidth. The 1000Gbps would be overkill - I chose it because I typically have multiple computers hard wired to my home network, and PC to PC file transfers can potentially exceed 100Mbps depending on the PC's hardware. Anyway, that's another discussion.

Oh good, I'm always second guessing what I have just bought unless I get the better of 2 options. Now I just need to figure out how to make the ARC on the TV talk to my new receiver and I should be ready to get this thing dialed in.
