[selling this for a close friend!]
One of my good friends (while locked in during the heights of the pandemic in late 2020) decided to GO ALL IN on a really, really nice system to keep him company during the lockdown and beyond.
Towards that end he began auditioning numerous speakers and electronics, and purchased a complete 5.0 Focal Aria system with super-nice Aria 926 floorstanding speakers, and a overachieving and attractive REL subwoofer. After a few fruitless months trying to shoehorn the 5.1 system into his apartment, lifestyle, and furniture, he decided to simplify to a pure stereo system. He was able to return the dipole surround speakers in time, but the center channel and subwoofer weren't able to be returned. So we have for sale a Focal Aria CC900 center channel in piano black, that matches the incredible tower speakers that he's keeping, and the REL subwoofer that after a lot of consideration, he decided wasn't completely necessary for those towers. He DID say that it was INCREDIBLE on movies though - made easier by REL's clever input connections, which allows for an and/or of a stereo high-level input from the speaker outs (another set of wires with the provided cable goes to the subwoofer, so the speakers still get the original signal) - or a low-level RCA input, and ~each have their own volume control~. That's very, very cool. In the past, in a similar situation in my house I resorted to using the L input for one system and the R input for another system, and just tried to have the volume magically work for each (it didn't). So REL's solution is much more elegant, and effective.
Neither the subwoofer nor the center speaker have the original packing materials; and both are in immaculate shape (the REL has some smudges on top, but I think those can be buffed out). The center channel can be easily shipped - I have tons of boxes and packing material, and have sent EXTREMELY heavy and delicate amplifiers (Crown Macro Reference, anyone?) so there's no worry there.
The subwoofer is quite substantial, and so I'd be most comfortable with a sale local to Los Angeles (or the San Francisco Bay Area as we visit there often, and possibly San Diego). If someone absolutely wants the subwoofer shipped, then I'd suggest getting the original packing materials from REL, at the buyer's cost. Then we can both be assured that the subwoofer will make the journey safely.
Price for the piano black Focal Aria CC900 is $745.
Price for the REL T/9i subwoofer with the factory cable is $835
Price for the REL T/9i subwoofer with the REL Bassline Blue cable is $955
The Focal can be shipped at the buyer's cost (actual shipping; packing materials/handling will be taken care of).
The REL is best for local pickup. (Contact me for SF Bay Area pickup, San Diego pickup, or shipping.)
I have lots of feedback on eBay, Audiogon, everywhere under the avatar taloyd. Photos are factory photos! Will load actual photos soon.
