I am making bass traps for my room so I would like to test the room before I install these traps.
I have the latest version of room wizard installed.
Do I need to buy a hardware eq device as listed under equilisers??

Not yet, First follow the instructions here and make sure you use the line in on your sound card not the mic in. Do you have an SPL meter?
I have a radio shack digital meter.
My equipment setup is 2 KRK nearfield monitors.
I KRK Sub.
Rme fireface 800
A number of microphones. Gemini MII. Pearlman, Shure.
No sound card
Firewire Interface with asio drivers.

Since you have the RS meter, the only other thing you need is a soundcard with line inputs and outputs that's compatible with your OS. Since you're doing bass traps, you'll want to run your graphs up to 500 Hz or so look at the waterfall graphs, which show the rate of signal decay.

Java (which REW uses) only supports WDM drivers for audio under Windows, not ASIO. So you have to ensure the card uses WDM drivers (if available).

REW will require a calibration file for your microphone.
