Hi all
I just got my Panasonic 54G10 and I need a little help hooking it up to my older receiver
The receiver is a Rotel RSX 972 it has no HDMI
My DVD player is a Pioneer DV400V
I am also using a General Instrument Cable Box

I had the HDMI from the DVD going to the HDMI of the TV and from there I did a Optical out to the receiver
Would this would for the sound? or do I need to run RCA jacks from the DVD and Cable box to the Receiver?

Thanks for your time

HDMI from the DVD player to the TV is correct however run an optical cable from the DVD player to the receiver not from the TV to the receiver as you will not get 5.1 sound only 2.1 if you go that route.

By the way, welcome to the Shack!

My DVD did not have a Optical so I just used RCA Jacks
I also used RCA Jacks from the Cable Box
For me to view data like on screen commands do I use a Component output?

Thanks Guys

Jason
If you use the analog audio outputs you wont get the digital audio formats limiting you to Dolby pro logic. If the DVD player has a coaxial digital out you can use that instead of the optical (the same thing as far as quality).
