I need a pink noise signal with a crest factor of 6 dB, filtered at 12 dB/octave below 40 Hz and above 5 k how do I set it up!!

Pink noise has a crest factor of 6dB by definition. As for limiting bandwidth, Equalizer APO from sourceforge might do the trick.

Hardly. It can be anything from less than 6dB to typically between 10 and 15dB for many generators.

REW's pink noise generator will produce a low crest factor pink noise, it's built-in custom filters will band limit at 40Hz and 5kHz (or anything). You can play it live or save to a wav file.

Random pink noise typically has a crest factor of around 12 dB. REW's periodic pink noise (Pink PN) has a crest factor of around 6 dB, but the low and high filters are sharp cuts, not 12 dB/octave roll-offs.
