So I have a HL-S4266W that I have had for 5 years now that recently started acting up. The other morning when I went to turn it on all I got was a rapid clicking sound and no picture. After three attempts to power itself on it turned off and gave me the three flashing lights on the front. I assumed that the lamp had finally gone out and ordered a replacement lamp from Amazon. After researching around I made sure I ordered an actual OEM Samsung lamp. When I received the lamp I quickly got it installed and powered up the TV. It came on just like it always did and looked great. So it stayed on for around 3 hours and never had any problems. Then the next day when I tried to turn my TV on and I get the exact same reaction that I had a few days earlier. A rapid clicking sound and the lamp never comes on.

Does anyone think that maybe I got a bad lamp? Do I have a bad ballast? I don't get why it worked one day then the next it was just like it was with the old lamp. Any suggestions?

It is possible to have a bad lamp but my guess would be the ballast or possibly even a power supply.
I know replacement parts can be had fairly cheap but I guess the real question is how much money do you want to spend on a 5 year old TV instead of putting that toward a new and better TV.

So how do you know it is the original lamp, where did you get the part number, and who was the vendor.
