Thanks For the info. I just tried putting pressure on the chip and this is the outcome. The lamp comes on and the lamp light flashes on the front. I get no picture or menu or sound, just a very low lighted screen.
Is this similar to the problems others are having? It seems like most people get some sort of picture and sound.
Thanks Rob
are you keeping pressure on the chip as the tv is turnned on? most people get the green lines on the screen. mine was just like yours. I would hit power and the lamp light would flash. when you looked at the back of the tv you could see the lamp was on. after so long the tv would turn off and the standby/temp light would come on. I could see the screen was lit but it was just a little bit of a brighter blank screen. your issue is most likely the digital board also.
www.samsungparts.com sells it for 188 plus 50 dollar core charge. they offer a 30 day return policey. but they charge a 15% restocking fee. so if the part doesn't work for you you still end up paying like 35 dollars. but 35 is less then the full amount. if you look at the topics for these tv's you and I are not the only one that had power on issues. and every time it ended up being the digital board. some people were afraid at first. but after they bought the board their tv's worked great again. It's such a common issue as soon as you told me what your tv was doing I was able to guess your model number. that should tell you something.
now if your screen would of came on with the pressure on the chip trick I would of said about just sending it in for a reflow. a reflow may still do it but not sure.
