OK, I have a chance to buy this tv for $50. I sent an email request to SAMSUNG about the situation and asked about fixing it. I had read on a couple of forums that SAMSUNG was offering a 1 time "free" fix for certain models. They responded as such..."We are happy to assist you with the repair of your TV. Will you please note the consent that follows: If your unit exhibits white dots appearing on the screen on all sources and channels, Samsung will provide a one-time courtesy repair to replace the DMD chip. However, should the issue not be related to the DMD chip, you will be offered an estimate for repair and be responsible for the trip charge. Do you consent to these conditions? Please respond by providing your address and the serial number for your device.

Thank you,

Andy T.| Samsung Electronics America | Social Media Support Team|"

Does this mean they will fix it "free." If so then I will gladly spend the 50 to have a like new tv. any feedback?

If the set has never been fixed before, probably. I would verify that it applies if you are not the original owner.
