Hi,

I'm new to REW forum and measuring in general, and I've found this forum to be a tremendous resource in helping me understand room acoustics.

I have a control room that I'm using to record instrument demos and for my own private use and would like to get it sounding as good as possible.

For treatments, I have three superchunks in the wall-wall corners and 6" 2'x4' panels at the first reflection points.

I made measurements and didn't know which graphs to post, so I'm posting waterfall, RT60, measured, and impulse.

Since this is all new to me, I'm having trouble interpreting the graphs at my current level of knowledge. Do you have any suggestions on how to make the room sound better?

Thanks,

I'm using a Radio Shack analog SPL for my mic and my hackintosh (OS X) soundcard, a Gigabyte UD3R motherboard. I tried using the latest version of REW in Win 7, but had trouble calibrating the soundcard so I used REW 4.x in OS X.

I plug my line out from the Gigabyte UD3R into a Mackie Onyx 1220 into my Genelec 8040a's for output and plug my Radio Shack SLP into the line in. For the soundcard calibration, I used a cable to connect the line in to the line out, and left the Onyx 1220 out of the loop since I didn't have any XLR to 1/8" adapters.

I may just buy a cheap two channel usb sound card and a Behringer mic for dedicated measuring tools.

The impulse response plot shows very high levels of distortion (each of those peaks before the main peak is a distortion image), probably caused by clipping somewhere along the measurement chain. The extreme difference in levels between low frequencies and high frequencies also has more of the look of cross talk than direct signal. Best to focus on ensuring a good soundcard calibration first, and preferably using the latest REW version, and go from there.
