I'm 70, live in Northern Calif., am a long time musician (guitar, bass) and recording studio owner. I'm more interested in playing and recording music than in home theater, and joined this site in order to download Room EQ Wizard to help tune my studio. It's in a low ceiling room in my basement, and I've lined the walls and ceiling with 2" eggcrate foam, which certainly damps out highs. But I don't think the room is tuned in an optimum way, and I'm contemplating building some bass traps.
I've seen various ways on the internet to build DIY bass traps, which I could do pretty easily, but most folks suggest measuring the room response to see what kind of treatment it needs before embarking on a room treatment project.
